Well, on the bright side it can't be any worse than the last adaptation.
Who else is thinking, nay EXPECTING, Thing 1 and 2 will be deconstructed into another Minion clone?

You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.Yeah, can't manage to fuck it up worse than the last attempt.
Easy street has no parking signs.^^ Not really.
This looks... interesting. I don't know enough about the writer to know what to expect, though. I get the feeling The Lorax plus this will open up a bit of Suess-a-mania, though.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Well, the Seuss Estate has essentially been pretending the live-action movie didn't exist. So it doesn't surprise me that this was coming.
-at Chris- >: >: >: >: >:
So, let's get speculating.
Who do you think will be cast? How do you think it will expand on the original story? Do you have any hope for it at all?
Looking for some stories? You what? I honestly can't ever tell what studios are thinking at this point!
My first thought upon seeing this was the last time they tried to do this it was horrible.
My second thought upon seeing this was that means that making something better will blot out the bad one.
Imagine, 2003 Cat In The Hat being utterly, utterly forgotten by history except as a minor footnote in an article about The Cat In The Hat - I can see why Mrs. Geisel wants this film done.
EDIT: Wait a minute, how are they going to handle the Adaptation Expansion in such a way that it doesn't even remotely remind anyone of 2003 CITH?

At first I didn't realize I needed all this stuff...But will it be better than the Friz Freleng cartoon?
I'd settle for it being as good as the ride at Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Considering that I didn't see the previous two Seuss adaptations, as I didn't particularly care for the books they were based on, I am personally interested to see how this adaptation goes. As many have said, at the very least it cannot be worse than the last movie version of The Cat In The Hat.
P Down: I'm hoping they merge it with Cat in the Hat Comes Back. Bathtub ring shenanigans would be fun to see and the Little Cats would definitely fit Illuminations' "Copy the Minions" quota.
Ah, yes, that's a solution that would work that no-one's tried before. :)
At first I didn't realize I needed all this stuff...Yes indeed. Merging it in with "Comes Back" would work nicely.
Since the Freleng cartoon is so well-remembered, maybe they could even bring in a bit of that. As a kid, I always did like the Cat wailing on about his Family Credenza.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaWow this thread hasn't been updated for a while.
Warner Bros. has picked up the rights to The Cat in the Hat from Universal.
Major shift in priorities for Illumination Entertainment going on right now.

I'm certain that will be Universal's final Dr. Seuss effort for the foreseeable future. Between the terrible reputations of Ron Howard's Grinch and the live-action Cat movie, the mixed reaction of The Lorax, the continued box office success of the Despicable Me movies, the DreamWorks takeover and a potential film deal with Nintendo looming, it seems Universal has given up entirely on doing any more Dr. Seuss movies (plus, today's Comcast meeting had NBCU CEO Steve Burke say that they're committed to releasing two Illumination movies a year, meaning they have practically given up on Cat).
Which begs the question: how long does Seuss Landing at Islands of Adventure have 'til its license lapses?

"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherEven if they give up their film license, they might still have the theme park license. And keep in mind that Fox has some Dr. Seuss film rights also, vide Horton Hears A Who.

Blue Sky's Horton was so good I don't think anyone is interested in making another film adaptation for it.
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherI hope Warner's Seuss movies will be as good as they're making them out to be.
Man, asking if there are any good Dr. Seuss movies is like asking if there are any good Fantastic Four movies.

Hopefully it will be their first good non-Lego project. Storks was disappointing to say the least.
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherWho would you cast as the voice actor for the Cat?
Join the Five-Man Band cleanup project! If IoA is still holding onto Marvel, I doubt Dr. Seuss is going anywhere.
Also, what’s this I hear about a film deal with Nintendo? I heard about the park deal, but this is news to me.
I have some hope for Smallfoot after seeing the cast, but I still have doubts.
