Personally I dislike how the top picture wastes A TON of space on pointless orange borders. It makes the boxes smaller and harder to see. It's like keeping an uncropped Magic The Gathering card of a demotivator.
Can't someone take the same box art and make a similar comparison without wasting 50% of the image on orange borders?

Yes, we shouldn't mistake (deliberately or otherwise) personal preferences with objective criteria. "Poor image" is not a valid criticism of the current.
Also, for what it's worth, I included the absurd Bomberman cover comparisons. Initially I made one to mimic the style of the leading image, but addressing the complaint above I made a lite version as well. Should be good enough for image links at least.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.
^^
(300... similar enough to swap into crowner?}
Made that change, but using the existing image, not recreating it from larger originals, scale up is faking more detail but not really adding any. Blurriness is glaring if I go larger.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Yeah, that can replace the top option. It reads better and that way we can't be accused of lifting it unaltered from IGN.
"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler. That's an improvement, but I'd make it 275 px so all the text on the American version can be easily read.

You misunderstand my point. My point is not "the border is ugly" it's that the border is a waste of space. We have up to 350 pixels in width. Remove the space taken by the border and make the game boxes LARGER. So they can be seen more clearly. Removing the border and keeping the boxes as small as they were doesn't make it better.

I think they're big enough, though that's a room for improvement.

I think it does, much more concise without the orange boxes or VS. Embiggened anyway.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Room for more examples?

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Error on TMNT1. Panic seems like the best pair, but I can't tell they're the same game. Maybe the first Spyro.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Surprised nobody likes the Pikachu. I think that one is my favorite.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Here's my idea, minor change. On the Kirby Air Ride image, switch the placement between the American Kirby and the Japanese Kirby. The punchline is that America somehow decided to change this image, and this way it reads as the Before—>After.
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.I upvoted the Pokemon, but I also upvoted several of the Kirby ones.
Pretty much all the examples proposed so far have been really good. Any of the runner ups would make excelent Image Links pictures.
Flipping the placement of the covers would be good I think.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I'd be fine with that.

The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Flipping makes sense to me.
"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler. What's the difference between the 2 Kirby box arts? I asked a lot of my friends and they couldn't tell either.
The Bomber Man one is good. The reader can be simply told in the caption that they're the same game. That would be sufficient.

Well, I asked a lot of my friends and they all spotted the difference immediately! So there!
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! You probably don't even need the "Japan ————> USA" bar at the bottom, honestly. The text on the cover of the Japanese one is fairly clearly an Asian font (katakana, specifically, but that's neither here nor there), so unknowing viewers can probably put two and two together and assume that came from Japan as opposed to, say, Mexico.
Moon◊Well, it's compositionally interesting to have them I think.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Ah, I meant something a wee bit different: since we do juxtapositions/multiple-part images a lot, and a lot of them are just images put side-by-side, I think it spices things up if we try to toy with these images a little and add little commentaries, icons, etc.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.I'm not that fond of the Kirby one because the only real difference is the Angry Eyebrows.
I also fixed my Turtles in Time link. I can't make comparison shots for any of them right now, though, not enough time before I gotta go to work.
