Yeah, gotta keep that in mind. Even if I can get in (not that I want to) on my rig, that still leaves out consoles anyway.

If the chip shortage stays like it is, PC gaming is going to be dead soon anyway.

Whats going on with Outriders? I remember seeing the game before it launched but it dropped off my radar near launch.

Speaking of Balan Wonderland, I'm morbidly curious as to what exactly went wrong with it, since all I can find based on our page for it is "its slow" and "it uses one action for every button like a Genesis or NES game".

Shamelessly plugging my comics, Oh yes.

[up][up][up] It better fucking not.

[up] Well, Some Call Me Johnny just put a vid up and one criticism is that Balan himself isn't playable.

Balan Wonderland makes me sad as it reminded me tonally of Nights but I guess the gameplay was nowhere near as good as Nights.

the GPU market has gotten pretty garbage since the pandemic started, yes. I'm glad I built my rig before it got too bad.

That is ridiculously hyperbolic.

The shortage will end eventually. These things boil down to supply chain issues, which will get resolved once the pandemic is over.

Well, here's a youtube vid by videogamedunkey going over the low-lights of his let's play. Basically, the game controls badly, appears to lift concepts and even music straight from Mario Odyssey (badly), all the power-ups are dumb and painfully limited in function, the reward for exploration is having to play a bad and overly-long QTE sequence.

Honestly, the much more interesting question is why it went wrong. Personally, I got money on office politics.

Ask how Hunt Down the Freeman went so wrong...

Of course this is Square Enix we're talking about, not some overly ambitious indie devs, but Squeenix has a history of putting out sheer woofers. Remember Left Alive?

No, it's more of a survival game set in a phony war-torn Eastern European country where you scrounge for food and ammo while trying not to be shot dead by soldiers from either side. The AI is apparently awful.

Honestly, the much more interesting question is why it went wrong. Personally, I got money on office politics.

Though not everything about the development cycle is known, from what is known that isn't too far off the mark. Naka outsourced much of the project to Arzest, of all companies. Arzest is pretty infamous for things like Yoshi's New Island. As for why them of all companies, it seems to be solely because they're headed by his personal friend Naoto Oshima.
