This thread is not valid. The pictures suggested are of equal caliber to the one we have, not greater.

We should not be encouraging replacing these images. We have a good picture, the touched up version looks quite nice. There's no reason to replace it, and I don't think suggesting replacing it, unless a new one is decidedly better, is what we should be doing.

The valid/invalid distinction seems rules-lawyerly, but I agree that this thread being unfounded should be strongly considered: unless someone has a dramatic improvement to suggest, I think it should be locked.

Yeah, maybe I should say our reasons for changing it aren't. The concern being raised is fair (sorry OP), but our reasons for changing it just seem to be "Hey, look, an Image Pickin thread is open! Let's pick an image!"

I'm personally favoring replacing the current with the HQ version of it.

Done. (Took DQZ's version and also reduced its size a little, which can improve apparent sharpness.)

True. However, I honestly didn't see any noticeable improvement with that new version of the current.

Yeah, it's small, but there are some compression artifacts on the current one if you look closely.

I noticed them immediately.

I personally prefer this one◊ to what's up there already. It just looks cleaner.

There's a strip in Okashina Okashi where a girl is not only doing the pose, there are word balloons of the laugh. I'm looking for that link.

Hmm an actual manga strip could work... I am going to have to go hunting though B Gata H Kei, Negima, To Love Ru and some others.

This one is the only one that comes to mind off hand that shows The Ojou in the Ojou Laugh. the Ho Ho Ho even comes with a Say It with Hearts.

Eh, the laugh is a bit out of focus in that panel.

I still like the current best. Possibly even the larger version of the current.

The current one is still the best one.

A manga scan would have to be a lot clearer than the suggested one from Negima to be an improvement.

Hmm To Love RU she likes to do this while walking away so its hard to find a good angle of her doing the laugh. [1]◊[2]◊

We need to stop suggesting images, and talk about whether we ought to close the thread. I'm rather tired of so many Image Pickin' threads being opened that probably shouldn't be, but then we go ahead and put a new image on because...well...there's an IP thread open, and that's what we do!

I suggest we lock the thread. The image has been touched up, and lately a lot of threads seem to be nothing much more than alternate suggestions to what already works. If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

Some of the suggested however deserve to be on Image Links.

I guess the suggestions should be put on Image Links, and then this thread be locked I guess?

I still think it could be improved on though, showing the whole trope better. Showing The Ojou a bit better as her costume is very strange and not very visible.

I mean there is a misuse here in the examples themselves from other mediums which is more Annoying Laugh not this trope... (Jabba the Hutt... seriously?)

Here is more images (I think the manga examples with a bit of editing to replace the sound effect kanji with "ohohohoho" would work better though.) Those look no better. Same pose, same wide, open mouth, same elegant lady with a mean look on her face. If there's misuse, I don't think the picture is responsible for it. I think people are just listing "nobility/high society members who laugh". That's a TRS issue.

Yeah, the name makes the trope more general than the picture. TRS is now open, so I'm making a thread for it. Will edit in the link.

EDIT: Thread made here. Also, as I mentioned there, I don't know enough shows to do a proper wick check. I really need held from those that know enough of these shows to know if a listed character ever does this or not.

Also, if we change the picture, what about a collage from the suggestions? In this case, it would help reinforce that this trope requires a certain pose, as all ladies being shown would be doing it.
