Please stop insisting on Rule of Perception as though we couldn't figure it out. It just justifies those who claim Viewers Are Morons.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Giving it some thought... yeah, I guess it's just obvious enough.
Moon◊I actually think it's kind of disrespectful to chop up someone's comic like that. Only using the relevant part of the image is one thing, but actually removing certain frames and changing the flow of the comic is another. The author obviously thought there needed to be a panel in between showing the people getting blown up - getting rid of it would be misrepresenting their work.
1. It has plenty of precedent here.
2. We can't show the whole comic anyway, so chopping it up would happen regardless.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. We do it all the time. Fair use allows us to use portions of copyrighted works for illustrative purposes; it doesn't mean we can't pick and choose what we want.
And the point is to illustrate the trope, not just copy paste someone's artistic vision. We can provide links for that.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Yeah, as long as we link back to the original, it should be fine. The point of the image is to illustrate the trope, not capture the creator's artistic vision.
Reaction Image RepositoryHow about we transfer Ascended Fridge Horror's current image to this trope?
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon Stewart
I'm not sure that that's even an example of Ascended Fridge Horror; for it to count the Fridge Horror would actually have to be referenced in the Tom And Jerry cartoons themselves.
Reaction Image RepositoryYeah, I think that pic would be a better fit here than there...but isn't there already an IP thread about that pic?
That pic's thread seems to note that it'd fit better elsewhere than there. In that thread I mentioned Fridge Horror and Deconstruction, but now that I've seen this thread I think it fits Deconstructive Parody even better.
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartBig "WHAT?!"? That is tragic deconstruction. This trope actually requires a deconstruction Played for Laughs.
EDIT: Now Deconstructed Trope doesn't have an image. That T&J pic could work there, to show slapstick being deconstructed.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.FYI, it is Ascended Fridge Horror, but only in universe, thanks to a panel that is deleted from that version.
Not that this changes anything said earlier, but just FYI.
Bump.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I think the Worth It suggestion is the best one here. It's a clear deconstruction of the Outrun the Fireball thing.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayWhile being funny. That's important because that's why the Tom & Jerry picture is not an examples.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. That said, it's probably better for Deconstruction, Deconstructed Trope, or Fridge Horror anyway.

"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartPut another vote down for the worthy asplosion.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.Especially since that context isn't in the picture.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Okay, I just decided to put the picture up, due to support. But if there are objections, let's hear them.
Also, how the heck did the link in the OP get so off? The proper strip number is 957, but somehow changed to 561 (edited it to correct that).

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Like a few people brought up earlier, it doesn't work very well with just those 2 panels.

Either two or three panels work, really.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything. The caption gives the context that the two-panel version might be lacking, so I'm good with it as it is on the page.
I still don't understand why the third (middle) frame would be necessary. What does that convey?
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.

...and the relevant Deconstructive Parody is "actually if you're that close to an explosion you won't be fine".
