Hate to start off with a criticism, but I think NBC started this show in the death slot for a reason. It looks like they sponsored it heavily, realized it was bad too late in production, and had to try to get the most out of what had already been produced. It was a cool concept, but the writing is kind of bland, and the CGI tricks are too repetitive.
Had they taken the same universe but given us a legitimately flawed protagonist who isn't able to solve his problems by blasting them away with a gun, maybe it could have taken off.

This is pretty much a gender flipped Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Nonetheless I would have kept watching it if it had turned out to be anything other than a monster-of-the-week show. The werewolf bludbad sidekick is fun and the captain turning out to be a bad guy had potential but it hasn't gone anywhere with it.
Trump delenda estThe other day I was saying to myself I like Grimm because it combines Urban Fantasy and Police Procedural then my inner critic kicked in and I realized the fantasy felt tacked on and in most cases it felt like it was thrown in last second to a regular police story, and I hate starting with critcism.
That being said I am enjoying it, I usually can enjoy a show while its on, and save analysis for later :3
Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.comJust watched ep 105 and 106. I was gagging at the Deadmau5 expy. I cannot explain to you how awkward that was, or how creepy the candle-lit cat-headed ratboy playing electric violin looked.
I liked Grimm at first because it was a cool idea, then I disliked it because it was poorly executed, and now I enjoy it again as long as I remember I'm allowed to laugh at it. I always try to watch it with my mom, and until tonight I was afraid to laugh at the awkwardness in case she didn't understand what made it so bad. Thankfully, I'm now convinced that she sees the Narm as well as I do. Next time it's on we can laugh together and totally not feel uncomfortable watching wolf-people use eating rabbits as a metaphor for sex.
I actually kind of like this show, shitty effects and all. The names for things are really silly, but I like the characters and the way they are portraying the 'magic-esque' stuff. It's not typical and feels more realistic than most Urban Fantasy masquerade-type deals. I'm just waiting for the main character's fiance to die though, I feel like she'll be killed off by the end of the season.

I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!to be honest, the episodes I find fun or something were the badger wesen ep, the spelling bee and the La Llorona, namely due to the involvement of kids and teens in the story
amusing, they follow side by side or something and such vague similarity feels like they are some arc
I watch this with my sister; it's not bad. It's kind of irritating how the various animal-people aren't really... animal people, so much as just people who occasionally flip a switch to look kind of animal-like, but I guess there were limits to how much CGI they could use.
The fiancee is... yeah, pretty dull so far. Really she's just there for the lead to sometimes angst about and/or confide in. My favourite character is definitely the werewolf sidekick.
Once thing that bugged me in the latest episode, though - the whole 'WW 2 was caused by these magic coins' stuff. It annoys me when fantasy/scifi media tries to incorporate real history into their mythology by saying that such-and-such horrible thing was actually caused by aliens/time-travellers/vampires/whatever. It just feels like a kind of cheap way of making your baddies seem more important.
Be not afraid...I liked it at first because it takes place in my hometown but I must admit I haven't watched in a while.

Wow I am surprised by this discussion.
I tried to watch this show when it first came out and only go through four or five episodes before I had to stop watching due to some part lack of interest and more parts just didn't have time. I recently went back and watched the first and second seasons at the encouragement of a friend who seems to think it's the shit.
I don't not like the show. I mean, it's interesting and I really like some of the characters, but I also have a lot of problems with it. First off, I really hate the CGI and I don't like the way they reveal all the wesen characters as well. It gives the show a cheesy element that doesn't seem to suit the show. I also find the dialogue uninteresting and I find myself doing other things while the show's on in the background because parts of the episodes drag and get really boring.
So, while I wouldn't say the show is bad, I will say that it's not particularly compelling TV - and I am kind of surprised it has been renewed for a third season.
People just don't appreciate the power of overwhelming mediocrity.

hashtagsarestupidI was pretty much addicted during the first season...yes, the first episodes were mediocre, but from the fifth upwards, it really picked up, and when they added Rosalee to the mix it became awesome. It's not like Buffy at all, because it was more grounded in reality, and the first season had a very strong meta.... naturally then came the worrisome season finale and a second season which stank of executive meddling....but the second season finale made me hopeful again for the third season. I hope the show goes back to its roots.
Well, it looks like there are not many Grimm fans around here, but nevertheless, did see anyone else the spoiler for next season? I'm so excited
Do tell.
Here: http://www.tvguide.com/News/Grimms-Nick-Zombie-1067684.aspx
NBC really dished out with the teasers...I'm especially excited about the Monrosalee part.
This series actually reminds me of Angel a bit, the reason I decided to watch was because of David Greenwalt. It's gotten better, though some the characters aren't too interesting. Monroe's awesome, though.
I'm kind of excited about the wedding too but it seems a bit too soon. I'm curious about how his family will be like.
Alexis Denisof will appear next season.
Zombie Nick's rampage was amusing.
I just hope that he doesn't do anything which will hunt him forever.
Great comeback, though the Adalind scenes (as usually) slowed things down a little bit...it was pretty much clear that this would be another "middle-episode".
I have the feeling that Renard just started a war with his order....
The quote was from Godfather Death, btw.
Looks like the cover-up machine is going to be in full swing.
We have a discussion for the Dueling Shows between this and Once Upon a Time but I didn't see one for just Grimm, and a Dueling Shows debate is not the same as a dedication discussion so I figured I launched one.
So here is a discussion to discuss Grimm.
