So lately I've been looking around for a new series to watch, and I stumbled across WITCH. I remembered watching it a bit when I was younger, but never a lot and I've learned not to trust my memory when it comes to how good or bad a series was.

I've heard good things about the comic from peopl, but not much on the show. Is anybody here a fan? Anybody know if the cartoon is any good? I think I recognize the style, and if it's from the same studio as I'm thinking (Marathon Media) it's other shows were a bit... meh, by my tastes.

First season is meh. Second season is excellent. That's my opinion, and it seems to be a pretty common one.

That seems about right. Been reading the comics and plan on watching the cartoon soon.

I am such a fan of WITCH. The second season is the best but don't expect it to be like the comics. I mean, it's pretty much the same, but the show is a bit "toned down" I guess I would say.

Never watched it before but I fell in love with the art style particularly Hay Lin's. I am very curious our article make it sound as a great series ( I am looking for a good magical girl series to watch).

W.I.T.C.H is the series that reminds me most of Fi M, both in themes and in how...overtly human it's character's are.

The first season is solid and stands out in comparison to Action/Adventure shows like it. The second season destroys any and all comparison due to sheer greatness, but then the Writer for Gargoyle's was the showrunner for it then. It was the best thing to come out of Jetex.

I really didn't like the first season at all; so many problems. I didn't love the second one, persay, but it was still so much better, with alot more going for it and was thus more enjoyable.

The original comics is a sad story: the creators got booted off after the sixth issue and the story arc majorly switched gears in the seventh. Despite this, it remained pretty good until the Nerissa arc was through. Then too many plotlines started up at once and things were never the same since.

I'm not a big fan of comics, at all. In the begining it was lame and took itself to seriously but as time went on the characters begane to feel static and undevloped. Contrast the series, especaily season 2, where it's clear that these characters and learning are growing and get better at what they do, dealing with their faults playing to their strengths but still stumbling on themselves every now and again and making their fair share of mistakes.

I read the comics regularly until the Phobos-Ellion stuff was over. Afterwards,I...just lost interest, until I picked up a later issue. Needless to say, it was very confusing. How did things go?

They went into a Arc-mode, with each Arc more or less being self contained while the story degenerated. Whats worse is that the arc's started to contradict each other.

The last good arc was the Trial/Election of the Oracle, before it was staggering a bit but afterwards it really started to suffer from Seasonal Rot. It just lacked any sort of over reaching story.

Hmmm, which was the arc where Phobos comes back after managing to switch places with his jailor?

In the begining it was lame and took itself to seriously but as time went on the characters begane to feel static and undevloped.

Disagreed on the first part; I thought in the beginning it was cool and that the serious, vaguely creepy feel to it made it interesting and it stood out more (certainly better than the generic shojo feel that came later, or the weak Lord Of The Rings-esque take the first season of the show did.)

Agreed on the second part though...the characters have just stopped developing, period.

The last good arc was the Trial/Election of the Oracle, before it was staggering a bit but afterwards it really started to suffer from Seasonal Rot. It just lacked any sort of over reaching story.

Agreed. Phobos' return was the last interesting thing to happen, but even that ended very weakly. After that, the comic never got good again story-wise. The art's still pretty, though.

Been enjoying what I've been reading so far. Halfway through the second story arc. I don't know about you guys, but I'm definitely enjoying the comic version more than the cartoon, because cartoons always want to go with the blond pretty and popular girl is a shallow fashionista vibe, among other things that dubs usually do.

[up] If there's one thing that even Season 2 couldn't fix for me, it was Cornelia.

I mean, good lord, what did they do to her? just bugs me

Same thing they do to any other popular/pretty girl in such a series when they adapt it into a cartoon. Took a Level in Shallowness.

I've never read the comic, though I have seen the cartoon and read one of the books. How do the books compare to the comic/cartoon for those who have experience with all three?

Characterization in book is better but there is more action in the cartoon. Season 2 in the cartoon has things a bit more personal, but the comics continue on for over nine seasons so of course there's more growth and stuff.

The books though are the best (only seven can be found online) because its pretty much the comics expanded.

New comics have been coming out, anyone seen them?
