I take it Amber's a lot older than she looks.
My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger.Or maybe just raised Catholic.
Catholic priests don’t typically speak in Latin anymore though. Someone her age likely wouldn’t have that experience.
Unless raised in a family that still attend a Tridentine mass...
Or just the writer's age is showing
They'd have to be pretty old... Latin stopped being the standard language in the 60s.
That said, it could also simply come from a position of ignorance, like the people who assume that there are no cars on Native American reservations, or that X group (insert the Jewish, Palestinians, etc) kidnaps children to grind up for their religious rituals.
I mean less extreme, but yeah the writers ex evangelical, and might not be clear on the ins and outs of modern Catholicism.
To be fair, I know a couple of Catholics (and a few Baptists...) who think that Baptists follow the teachings of John the Baptist instead of Jesus Christ.
Oh no, Becky's gonna replace shallow critisism of Dotty with *genuine* critisism of her!
This is cute >:3
No it isn't. This shit is getting old.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117It's a cute little joke on an old gag. It's harmless.
As we're now several months out from the "Season finale" storyline, I think the conclusion I'm coming to when I actually follow the strip for sustained periods of time as opposed to dipping in and out is "When the writing is more-or-less 'status quo', I'm predisposed to at least try and put a positive slant on everything Walky has nothing to do with".
Funny thing is I've met Willis once, years ago at a 'con. Seemed like a nice guy. I get that of course there's some fictionalization to turn "him" into Walky here, but I would never have guessed Walky was the closest thing he had to a Author Avatar in this comic.
Anyway, all this to say I'm actually enjoying this Becky/Dotty interaction.
Isn't Joyce supposed to be the author avatar? It's been mentioned more than once her arc is based on his own experiences.
Willis contains multitudes, and can spread them around multiple characters. That happen to bang in certain continuities.
Yes, a true reveal on Hank and Carol
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Damnit Joyce why are you punishing yourself like this.
Because glasses means change and she can't have that.
She'd probably look cute in them.
I was going to say — I can just about understand somebody whose vanity makes them avoid glasses because they aren't sexy or cool (though actually they can be), but vanity doesn't usually seem to be Joyce's vice. This phobia of change really is downright pathological.
= Spindriver =Well, hasn't she gone through enough to develop a bit of a pathology?
I mean, she avoided change before but I would be unsurprised if her trauma has caused her to double down on it
tmw I realize Becky is dressed like a lesbian pride flag

Gosh I love how supportive Dina is.
Also my sleep routine during my undergrad was just, go to bed consistently two hours later than the night before.
