Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

Nelson Peltz, who's currently trying to get rid of Disney CEO Bob Iger, put Ike Perlmutter back in Marvel and possibly try to get rid of Kevin Feige, complaining about MCU movies that aren't focused on straight white men.
Luckily Disney doesn't take him seriously
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
Hah.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe last few years have made me wary about dismissing people who are over the top bigoted and incompetent about it. I used to think their incompetent behavior would always result in them just being laughed off and being a footnote, but America keeps bending over backwards to ensure they get their way anyway, so...
So I can't fully dismiss the possibility that, when the votes comes it, it'll turn out that - surprise - enough people with clout at Disney agreed with them that Peltz and Perlmutter end up on the board regardless.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. That's a very good point.
It's a fear I have when literally anything with Donald Trump and the presidency is brought up.
I legitimately feared he'd get re-elected back in 2020, and I still fear it now.
So perhaps we shouldn't count Permulter out yet.
That being said, we can't live in fear of him regaining power either. There's honestly nothing we can do, except hope the forces of good continue to stave him off and maintain the balance.
One Strip! One Strip! And it’s ultimately not going to be a Disney spokesperson who decides if Peltz stays or goes, but the shareholders.
Luckily, George Lucas has already thrown all his shares behind Iger and we will know the results on April 3.
In lighter news, Variety says that X-Men 97 has reached 4 Million views in the first five days. https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/x-men-97-ratings-viewers-1235951732/
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.I do wonder why Stramge is more about the Multiverse now instead of mystic stuff? Its like Kang being obessed with multiverse instead of time.
Mileena MadnessBecause the current phases are the multiverse saga.
Do people want them to even less focused on the arc?
They decided to make the multiverse the big theme of the post-Endgame era.
Wake me up at your own risk.Well Strange already had his multiverse thing.
So maybe do it with someone else.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."On one hand, it is a shame that there (probably) won't be as much of a focus on the mystic side of the setting. On the other hand, using Strange as one of the main ways of dealing with the multiverse makes sense given his first film was the first major instalment in the MCU to make use of the multiverse.
Yes. Multiverse as a thematic arc was a dumb idea.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! If they once again do the whole "Christine is the most important person to Strange" AGAIN, I'm walking out of the theater.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.I'm pretty sure they've put that to bed what with him fixing his watch.
Plus Clea is there now, so....
One Strip! One Strip! All Wong does is basically nag him so yeah they are practically married.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The same reason DC tried to make The Flash about the multiverse rather than about Flash stuff: because the multiverse is hot right now so someone needs to be sacrificed at the altar of market trends and focus group research.
Marvel's also kind of trying to do the same thing to Spider-Man these days.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Strange isn't a bad choice for it either. He's always going into dark dimensions and such.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThough thats a different concept of dimension.
He's more demon-realm, dream-realm, realm of eldritch beings, not the multiverse kind of universe.
There is a bit of a difference there.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."One of Doom's most famous storylines with Strange was them going to hell to fight Mephisto to save his mother's soul.
That's the mind of multiverse Strange should be diving into, not glorified cameo universes.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Especially since in the recent comics one of his most powerful foes turned out to be a different version of himself who had jettisoned his own conscience to be a more effective Sorcerer Supreme.
Disgusted, but not surprisedAt least when Spidey did the obligatory multiverse thing, we got some awesome movies out of it.
Multiverse of Madness I liked fine (especially the Creepy Awesome moment toward the end with Strange reanimating and possessing Strange Supreme's corpse to fight Wanda), but I'm questioning the decision to have Doctor Strange go down the alternate-Earths rabbit hole again rather than deal with outright Acid Trip Dimensions like the Nightmare World, Mephisto's Realm, or the dimension of the Many-Angled Ones. Seems like Marvel is trying to top pigs with pigs, there.

You would expect Doctor Strange movies to be more about Stephen out-thinking evil sorcerers and demons and eldritch horrors just like how he tricked Dormammu in the first movie.
The aforementioned Strange variant from the comics for example was defeated by Stephen forcing his conscience into him.

Disgusted, but not surprisedYeah, I suspect the MCU sees Strange as more of a vehicle to introduce more multiverse stuff for future movies rather than being a character.
His actor even complained about being overshadowed in his own movie.

I don't think Loveness is working with Marvel Studios anymore though.
Trust no one.
