Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

Shit... Hope that nothing happens to him.

Wake me up at your own risk.I wish the best for him, that can definitely be scary.
Fittingly the MCU can happily say that Thor is taking time out from superheroics to be a good adoptive dad.
I remember Chris Hemsworth and Taika Waititi saying the 'Thor Will Return' message at the end of L&T was news to them. Guess it really won't be happening.
Best of luck to him of course. Totally valid choice to make.
I learned about that via a youtube video a while back ( think a little after Kevin Conroy's death, but I'm not sure).
Glad to know it's real....and glad to hear he's taking a break. Hopefully, he'll be ok.
One Strip! One Strip! As someone who just lost a family member to Alzheimer's about a month ago, I definitely get Hemsworth wanting to take a break and spend time with family. Hopefully they really get some good quality time together.
Trust no one.Yeah, the fact he was with his own daughter in L&T shows he loves his family so he should be with them.
Mileena MadnessWell shit man, best of luck to the guy.
Hope all goes well for him.
He's already made like 10 movies, guy deserves that rest.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."No kidding. Especially since the guy pushes himself harder than any of the other Big 3 Avengers when it comes to training and stunt stuff. And unlike Robert Downey Jr. or Chris Evans, he didn't have the luxury of his character dying/retiring at the end of Endgame.
Trust no one.I wish Chris Hemsworth the best.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Say hello to Blade's new director and writer!
Blade will be directed by Lovecraft Country's Yann Demange and written by When They See Us' Michael Starrbury.
And watch out for the URL! Looks like someone at THR made a boo-boo, because the URL says Blade will be rated R! (The movie is still set for Sept. 6, 2024. Might we hear Deadpool dissing Blade for being the first MCU R-rated movie before him?)

I've heard good things about Lovecraft Country. Cool they got this guy involved.
Trust no one.If Hemsworth has to leave the franchise, now's a good time. Love and Thunder could be retroactively considered to be a fairly good swan song for his character. It even left him with a potential heir.
Sure, Love (ugh) is like nine right now, but give her a decade and she can show up to surprise everyone in Phase Six or whatever.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.In a hypothetical pondering if they ever do a finale movie for Hemsworth I feel like Beta Ray Bill would be the way to go at it
It would tie into themes of heroism, brotherhood, and legacy with Thor's ultimate tale ending with him retiring and passing on his ideals of heroism to a fellow champion and ending content that even if he's not around there will always be another hero out there in the universe

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The writer for Lovecraft Country feels like a great match for Blade.

It's been 3000 years…I wish the best to Hemsworth and hope everything will work out for him.
I guess Thor has reached what could work as a conclusion to his character, though it would be a real shame if the Hercules teaser would never be followed up on.
Herc could potentially end up being another "real Mandarin" situation where the hook is followed up on in another property because the original hero's no longer part of the franchise.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonZeus didn’t tell him to go beat up Hercules. He was more concerned mortals didn’t like him anymore. Hercules could show up and be anyones problem really
Forever liveblogging the AvengersOut of the current cast, who'd be the more likely to be dragged by Herc into a journey to fight and party around the world?
Wake me up at your own risk....She-Hulk? I dunno.
I feel like both Bruce and Jen would be dragged into Hercules's bullshit, yeah.
It's been 3000 years…Jen would certainly have a time dealing with a macho lothario with values several thousand years out of date
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I suggest a civilian supporting cast character
Or just cast Amadeus Cho
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's one of those powers that writers can easily ignore. Eros and Daken's charm powers are more consistently used in stories.
As for Gambit's crimes in the comics, the MCU can easily ignore those as well.
