Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

Tone is definatly the interesting thing. I'll have to see Moonknight as I imagine that will be as dark as the MCU is allowed to go, that kind of tone might well be viable for Daredevil.
Jessica Jones probably not, but the darkest part of her story has already been told.
I also don't expect Finn Jones to return, mostly because I hear the crew for Iron Fist found him really unpleasant to work with, and that can have more weight than fan reaction.
I can very much imagine Luke Cage and Iron Fist in a more lighter tone, befitting a Heroes for Hire series.
Kinda like Hawkeye in terns of tone and low-scale, just their misadventures managing a helper business.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Oh yeah Heroes for Hire is exactly what I'm expecting from the MCU.
I also expect Jessica Jones to be a supporting character in that, which will be weird tonealy, but I would get used to it.
There has been a report that Kate Bishop actor Hailee Steinfeld was sited on the set of the next Ant-man and the Wasp movie, meaning that could be her movie debate. Could be a mistake or could be true.
Sincerely S Awatching. They, kind of are. At least in relation to all of the big events. Anything that threatened the planet and mankind they just sidestepped. The entire plot of Eternals was largely driven by their infighting. By the end of the movie all that they've accomplished is stopping the genocidal event that their presence on the planet indirectly caused - most of them are dead or are off-world to be... judged.
Superman didn't cause this much damage when he and Zod destroyed Metropolis.
So what happened when the Chitauri and Thanos showed up.
Or Malekith.
Or Thor.
The Dweller-in Darkness.
Dormammu.
Ajak was cool with all of that?

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Yes
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThat's messed up man.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Most of these things got resolved pretty quickly though
Malekith was on Earth for like half an hour before he got delimbed and smooshed
Forever liveblogging the AvengersOh. Well that makes me a little less sympathetic towards him. Do we have confirmation on this?
One Strip! One Strip!Yeah, I heard that it was a bit of a mess behind the scenes but this is the first I heard about him being part of the problem.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Issue is it's all anonymous words from various crew members. So I'd take it with a pinch of salt. From what I've read it's not terrible just that Finn was really poor at time management and would turn up late for shooting and wouldn't have prepared his lines or coreography to expectation.
I know the weekly planet podcast (who know Finn Jones as a kind-offriend?) Have commented that they're also aware that this was the case and they believe it to be true.
On the topic of the Eternals: most of the issue is that the Eternals was disbanded during the MCU. The only characters who weren't actively busy, hiding, become utter hermits or actively thought humans were destined to perish were Sersi, Kingo and Sprite.
And all three of them had aliases they had to uphold.

That they had disbanded doesn't make them any less useless. I could understand that as why they did not appears as a group during catastrophic events that shook the Earth to its core. But they don't even appear individually.
All the disbanding means is that the Eternals each individually decided that the Earth can go fuck itself, rather than it being a direct command from their shady superior.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.See,this is why I think they should have just had Thanos wreck them like he wtf pawned the nova corps
New theme music also a boxWell they are useless since only two of them can mobilize with any speed
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah, but that's still two powerful beings who went "Eh, this apocalyptic event of the week? The humans can handle it by themselves. Lemme get my popcorn."
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrWell, we did, didn't we! We don't need those assholes!
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. That’s true
Like I said, most of the movie situations situations resolve extremely quickly
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWhoa, Kevin Feige just said Charlie Cox would be Daredevil? Just like that? Huh. I'd ask what kept him from saying that before, but I guess that can be chalked up to both "Marvel Studios not being allowed to mention Netflix shows until a couple of years" and "that NWH leak some jerk spilled that showed Cox as Matt", so never mind.
Come to think of it, I recall reading rumors he'd also be appearing in She-Hulk, which should make sense given the subject of the show is superhero lawyers. Feige out and saying Cox will be Daredevil straight out of nowhere kinda tells me that whatever plans they have for the Man Without Fear, they are coming very soon.
Sorry.

You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midWhere I see the issue is in two places:
1. The Netflix shows were not afraid to show blood or very graphic violence. See Matt vs. Nobu, Matt's injuries in general, Fisk killing Anatoly, Bushmaster decapitating people, etc.
2. The characters having to be written in ways that makes them feel like completely different individuals. The Netflix characters have a lot of cursing in their dialogue, especially Jessica. Such cursing is probably not allowed in PG 13 works.
The cold never bothered me anywayYeah, while Disney's shows haven't been bad, I don't think I'm gonna be very happy about a toned down Daredevil.

I keep hearing that cursing thing brought up but it actually is possible to write a PG-13 hardass without relying too much on swearing or falling into Badbutt.

What I'm trying to get at is what I said back in August.

The cold never bothered me anywayI mean, look at this scene alone
More blood than in all of the Disney shows combined. And I think the impact of this scene would've been very much lessened without it.

Apart from maybe the Punisher, there's nothing about the "Netflix characters" that necessitates a hard-R story telling approach.
As we saw, they can definitely tell that kind of story and it works but you can still have a less violent/dark Daredevil or Luke Cage that's still a good story.
