Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

Madame Gao was the only one I liked
Forever liveblogging the AvengersBakuto was definitely the weakest one. So shallow and forgettable.
Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% ScandinavianI found Murakami much more forgettable. He was a downgrade from his own subordinate Nobu.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I still love that hallway fight in Defenders.
I'm disappointed that after being around for so long, the Hand were just so utterly unprepared for what the Defenders had to offer.
Like, I get it. These guys are superhuman in some way, but as Danny showed with the fist, someone like Luke can be hurt.
Speaking of, I also really like Danny's appearance in season 2 of Luke Cage. I think it influenced Danny sucking a lot less in season 2 of his own show.
One Strip! One Strip!Man, if they're gonna go there, then I really wish they revisit those robot ideas they had when they wanted Zola to appear in Ant-Man...
Me too. This one in particular◊ was incredibly cool for Zola, with the Uncanny Valley head and the claw hands. They should definitely keep the creepy reverb from that scene and the green distortion in his screen.
Also on the subject of the Hand's leadership, Madame Gao is a borderline case. The show generally hinted she was a version of Crane Mother and Bakuto is from the comics, but the remaining three (Murakami, Sowande and Alexandra) are indeed straight outta nowhere. I do enjoy the idea of the Hand having five fingers leading them but they could have picked a lot more interesting people to lead it.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I don’t get why they blew the entire hand in one go
Forever liveblogging the AvengersTo rehash a previous post of mine, at least speaking anecdotally, my sense is that parodies of the Hand, such as the Foot Clan of TMNT are better known than the original, which is a sign that they should not be adapated, or else, should be adapted in a work that goes for the goofy, fantastical stuff, not for "gritty realism".
Natalie Portman on the set of Thor: Love and Thunder.
O_O She could lift fifty Mjolnirs.
Skurge isn't the only one with guns.
Left arm is Des and right arm is Troy. Together they des...troy.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."....was she always that buff?
One Strip! One Strip!Nope. She trained and increased her musculature for this role
And holy shit, talk about a glow-up, Anakin will now be the one getting choked, alright

"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."All Thors in this film need a training montage. Do it. Thor loses his gut and Lady Thor (or is it just Jane Thor?) gets a standard one learning to use the hammer.
She doing that Thor-lifting program.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."...I think I'm in love.
She wasn't but I'm amused picturing her being always that jacked in every one of her roles.
Nute Gunray kidnaps Padme and then Padme just beats the snot out of him.
Black Swan but she's a mega buff ballet dancer.
Annihilation and she fights the bear fist to claw.

Damn, someone get to work on these remakes already!
Hey, did the discussion of how mutants might be brought in get kicked over here from the Wanda Vision thread?
I want them to reuse Sigourney in something better. It's not like the Netflix shows are canon to the MCU any more.
Abigail Brand, maybe? Or something not on the nose, like Viper?

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. What was up with the shows?
Did the later ones like bomb or did Disney merely end the contract because they wanted to make shows only they own?
No but we can continue it.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."General assumption is that Disney was in the midst of creating Disney+, and since the shows were joint owned by Netflix they couldn't follow the MCU into the new distribution format Disney had in mind and were thus cut looks - alongside your standard slew of creative and business differences between Netflix and Disney, of course.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. From what I understand, the latter. This also ends spin-offs being kept at arms length and fully integrating them into the main plot.

Do you think they'll try to say there was a small population of mutants (~10k?) this whole time laying low?
Plus the fact the Hand is lead by Canon Foreigners.
The Fingers suffers from a lack of prescience and style compared to Nobu who was a badass ninja in a bright red gi.
Nobu had presence and style in spades.
