A Game of Gods: Infinities

Tyrell was amazed when he realized that the other champions were eating the weird things on the table. Those things were food! He couldn't believe it! Then The Tick said something in his direction that sounded like a reply, but not to him.

Huh? Who's The Tick Talking t-OH GOD! Tyrell thought as he turned around and noticed Toriko was right behind him. He was the most important-looking man Tyrell had ever met and he was acutely aware of the fact that he didn't know how to properly adress the aristocracy.

He looks even fancier than Lord Hammet...and I'm dripping curry on his rug oh crap I hope he didn't notice! I better do what he says. Tyrell quickly took an empty spot at the table and dug in, though he was much too nervous to notice the taste.

The blonde all but bared her teeth, not backing down. "Why should we trust you? With the sightings of the Coil re-emerging here, you could very well be working for them!"

The brunette cast a somewhat annoyed look at the blonde, complete with a faint eye roll, but she didn't say anything against her, keeping her weapons up as well. "Please, we have to hurry..."

"Don't bother trying to bargain, Ophelia," the blonde spat. "If they're instruments of the Coil, then-,"

"Ophelia...I knew it!" Rey suddenly blurted, and he rushed forward, putting himself between the women and the others. "Wait! Wait, stop, stop stop stop! Don't hurt them, guys, I know these girls! I know where we are!" He looked back at the women. "We aren't working for the Coil...we know you're the good guys, we're good guys too! Everyone just put down your weapons, we don't need to fight!"

Mehir eyed Rey. "And why should I do that? The fact that you apparently know those girls does not mean that its safe to let our guard down... However, I'll trust your judgement.. for now." He sheathed his scimitars; he trusted his ability to conjure Magic Arrows.

Jack, startled at Rey's confident assertion, held up his empty hands to show that he had no intention of fighting.

"I do not know what this 'Coil' is, but I am not one of them," he said. "Rey, if you recognize this place, where are we?"

Grievous glared at the blonde and would have taken a step forward when the masked man put himself between these newcomers and the portal group.

Apparently he knew these two somehow. Grievous didn't let up on his glare but did allow himself to bring his lightsabers back to a resting position with the blades pointed downwards.

“You know these two?” He asked of Rey, coughing slightly.

The Doctor smiles. Rey seems happy. That must be a good sign.

The Doctor follows Rey. "We and the Coil are foes. We are allies I presume."

The Doctor puts his Sonic Screwdriver on the ground after pulling it out of his pocket.

Fluttershy calmed down a bit when Rey said he knew these two women. She carefully trotted up to them towards the black haired woman, trying her best not to look at the blonde and became nervous. "Um.....hello....." the pastel pony greeted. "Are you, um, friends of Rey?" she asked, trying to hide her face behind her thick pink mane.

Ah, so we have to find more ingredients for them, thought Kohaku, as she daintily digged into some of the sherbert. I suppose it's better to just do it for now and gain their trust. And if they start to get too demanding about them I can always slip them some of Kohaku-chan's "secret ingredient", ufufu~

"I'm sure you can count on us, Toriko-chan~", she said to their host. "I always took care of the cooking and the gardening back at the Tohno Mansion, so I'll know exactly what would make the finest additions to your meals, ufu~"

Byakuren had joined in eating the sherbert, already having forgotten what the other thing was. Besides that, it was sugary and came with melon! Melon was nice and familiar, even if she couldn't really eating most of the foods before. Surviving on donations and what you could grow, even with youkai assistance, limited your culinary experiences.

Toriko chuckled at Tyrell's display, obviously mirthful at the younger man's discomfort. "Don't worry, I'm not one of those stuffy rich winos you see. Well, except I'm rich, but that's besides the point. Don't worry, I'll pay for your curry stains." He chuckled again.

Turning, he acknowledged Kohaku with a knowing smile. "Yes, you are indeed to be trusted... you smell of professionalism... and slight hints of derivative agents." The man's sharp nose picking out her skills, as well as her less savory methods of dealing with food.

"Anyways, what I want you to do is to retrieve the Grain of the World Nobles, BB Corn; or the Blue-Blooded Corn." At his words, a hologram lit up behind him, displaying a vast continent of jungle growth. Towering above the vegetation were roots that extended into enormous, mind boggling stalks that supported the skyscraper sized corn, vines crisscrossing between the stalks to make platforms. "Impressive, is it not? It took me a while to get a kernel from one of the bigger cobs." Toriko said, reminiscing.

Shotaro decided to play along too. "The Coil... Most of us have formed a sort of band against them. Each of us usually has a major gripe against them. Though some just want to smash some heads in. I can't really blame them." Shotaro said.

"Question," Byakuren said, raising her hand into the air, "Is there anything that can stop Nano-chan and I from just flying up and taking it? I'm thinking stuff like violent plants or needing to bring the whole plant with us..."

The magician raised her finger to her lips, chewing on it thoughtfully as she tried to guess the size of the plants. "I think I can carry one off if necessary..."

Nanoha peered at the hologram. That was, quite possibly, the biggest corn cob she'd ever seen. It was actually kind of silly, now that she looked at it. Almost cartoonish, in a way. She didn't realize it, but she must've looked a bit out of place as part of a team to go looking for giant ingredients. After all, she was a little girl in pink pajamas.

"Hijiri-san is right," she said aloud. "What else is there around the giant corn?"

Tyrell scowled at Kohaku.

I knew it! I KNEW it was impossible to cook that well! That woman CHEATED! But if this guy says she's a professional I guess I'm willing to let her prove it.

"That is some big corn. Is there some special way to harvest it?"

"Yes... You don't go after the whole corn." Toriko said in amusement. "Your job is to dislodge a single kernel from the largest cob and pop said kernel in the area known as Wul Volcano." He snapped and the hologram flickered to show swarms of mutant looking predators, like flying crocosquids and fanged pelicans.

"Of course, getting to said corn is dangerous as there are flying beasts that aim to get at the kernels, so aerial travel will be rather dangerous. The corn itself is protected by individual fibers that are each stronger than steel and must be peeled to reveal the succulent treasure underneath. Added to that is the problem of transporting the individual kernel, which is about 7 feet in diameter and 7 feet wide. I recommend you make your way through the outlying forest, for there are stamina sustaining foods that will help you get to the corn itself." The great man said, answering their questions.

"From there, you have to take the kernel to the volcano, which is the actual site and surrounding floor, which have rocks stacked atop each other, the ones closest to the ground close to 1400 degrees Fahrenheit. Cooking the kernel correctly is important, as you must be prepared to watch over the grain and keep any beasts from going at it at that stage. Any more questions?"

Florina was quietly eating at the table, listening carefully to what was being said but not contributing to the conversation at all. She was a naturally shy girl and being around so many people, especially men, had made for an uncomfortable situation for the young pegasus knight. Her pegasus Huey, who had followed her master, nuzzled the top of the girl's head with a soft neigh, possibly trying to help the knight relax.

Byakuren, naturally, was wondering what would be so difficult about this. Then again, she was an immortal magician who specialised in enhancement magic and had no need for food or rest. Therefore, the world's defences probably weren't tailored to defeating her... though Byakuren wasn't sure that she could cook or that leaving the other people alone would be a good idea.

Nanoha wasn't sure how well she'd do at carrying a giant corn kernel, one that was bigger than she was, and dropping it in a volcano. In fact, she didn't think she could do that at all. Fending off monsters, on the other hand...

She had plenty of experience in fighting.

The two women traded a glance as the others spoke, with the brown-haired one...Ophelia, apparently, glancing down at Fluttershy with a very confused look. "Did...did that horse just...talk to me?"

"It's okay, Ophelia," Rey said, keeping his voice as calm and measured as he could, gesturing to himself and the whole group. "It's hard for me to explain this, but we were sent here, to help you with whatever issues you might be having. And if the problem is the Tainted Coil, then we are absolutely here to help you defeat them once and for all."

"And why should I trust you? We've never seen you before," the blonde shot back.

Rey started to say something, then hesitated with a worried wince, looking around as though thinking it over, turning to look to the others as though for idea...but then he blinked as though something else had occurred to him. Quickly, he stepped back...and abruptly went down to a knee, bowing his head just slightly, as though in reverence, and this actually seemed to take the blonde woman aback somewhat, as she stepped back in surprise, lowering her weapon.

"I know what a great hero your brother was...Lars Halford is a legend in this land, and he has inspired me, just as he inspired all your army. I can tell...from where we are, from where you are...that the situation must be grave indeed, and so...I beg of you...Queen Lita Halford, of Bladehenge, please allow us the chance to fight at your side now." He looked up at her, smiling as graciously as he could manage. "For the honor of Bladehenge, for the freedom of it's people, and for the glory of it's metal."

The Doctor blinks. Rey knows a lot...

The Doctor bows to Lita silently.

"Just the one. If something attacks us, and we end up having to kill it, can I keep the meat?"

Jack was unsure of what to make of everything that Rey said, but one thing was clear, that the wrestler trusted the women implicitly, and Jack, though he knew Rey had good and bad periods, considered him a friend and trusted his judgment.

"If your cause is righteous," he said to the two women, "then I too will help you." He bowed respectfully.

Fluttershy looked at Rey quizzically, looking back and forth between him and Lita. She then gasped and hurriedly started bowing to the blonde queen. She doesn't look like a queen, the pegasus thought.

" Um, if you don't mind me asking your highness, but, um, what are the Tainted Coil" Fluttershy softly asked Lita in a soft voice.

On the hood of the bus Antroz sighed, with relief or in frustration He wasn't sure; maybe a bit of both.

How easily you creatures give away your alliances, I daresay that in a fight We would easily have won...Unless they turn us into roadkills with this overgrown vehicle..

Antroz continued to watch in silence from the hood of the bus, it would complicate matters for him if he suddenly swooped down bat wings, claws and all.

Not looking exactly Toa like in my current form....

Mehir remained standing, hands crossed. "I acknowledge no King," he said. "However, if your cause is just, I shall fight alongside you and my friends, for it is my duty to uphold justice and protect the law." He stared at them steadily. "What say you?"
