WHAT??
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWEN REMATCH WITH TAICHI
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.That was Red, isn't it a Broken Base that Ash wasn't chosen to face Tai and Agumon?
Not that it would've change, at least Ash would have put up more of a fight.
If we’re going down that route, gotta mention Marcus, who’s go to strategy in a fight is to punch the digimon himself. And it tends to work.
And Bea who in the anime trains and spars with Machamp.
But can either of them compare to Ash?
I dunno, if you scale Ash's durability to Team Rocket's (And god knows they've taken some brutal damage), I'm not entire sure Ash couldn't solo Wargreymon himself.

She has her moments, but you aren't wrong. Mashima heaps all the shit on her and sometimes deliberately makes things more difficult for her in comparison to Natsu and Erza, who often just Ass Pull their way to victory.
She gets the opponents too tough to defeat (who Natsu and Erza would beat anyway) or with abilities tailor made to counter hers, and when it does seem like she's winning, they reveal they weren't actually trying because fuck you for expecting the author anything to let her win fairly.
He just seems to hold Lucy to a different standard than almost anyone else....but as you can tell by my ranting I rather like her, so I'm so biased I may have to be ignored by default.
We need someone with the patience to stick with Fairy Tail but none of my bias....if such a person exists.
One Strip! One Strip!Would I get paid?

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. In the anime the Pokedex entries are pre-written, though. All Ash has to do is point the Dex at a Pokemon and get info on it... which makes no sense if he's supposed to be discovering new species.
Plus, at least some of the entries aren't written by the trainers — like the Sword and Shield Fossil Pokemon's, which appear to be written by Cara Liss herself and are certifiably falsified.
But most of the games have the professor explicitly send the players to fill the pokedex. So the kids have to be filling the entries or the entire endeavour makes no sense.
Science budgets must be abysmal in pokemon if they have to rely on unpaid underage interns
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThey really are professors!
In the Anime, we see the guy who programms the Dex in like episode 80, and any misinformation was just shrugged off as "my interns did it". In the games, I'm pretty sure the dex just auto fills data, because there's no way any trainer would know how many rings on a Wartortle's stomach there are.
How does the dex automatically fill backstory and details it never witnessed?
Stuff like Cubone's mom. Or Ghastly being able to topple an Indian Elephant (Fire Red) despite no sign of India or Elephant in any games. Or Drowzee remembering dreams it eats, or Kadabra being a psychic human who transformed.
And that's without even going on the weirdly poetic or narrative to one of certain entries that don't really make sense if they are procedurally generated by a machine. ("Should you feel yourself attacked by a sudden chill, it is evidence of an approaching Gengar. There is no escaping it. Give up.")
Makes way more sense to assume those are the runaway imagination-fueled musings of a 10 year old.

A 10 year old imagined India and elephants, lol
New theme music also a boxIsn’t one of the new Pokemon an Indian Elephant?
Why not? It's like a RL 10 year old imagining Narnia or whatever. Sure a 10 year old In Kanto imagined a magical land called "India" and fantastic creatures called "Elephants" coz neither of those exist in his world.
Clearly not, since it's a Pokemon. Less you think Elephants can only learn 4 moves, have type advantages, and can be stored in tiny balls.

Come to think of it, how do Pokémon get their classifications anyways?
Stuff like "Tiny Mouse Pokémon" or "Ball Whale Pokémon" or in the case of aforementioned Indian elephant "Copperderm Pokémon"
I know in the first generation it was implied Pokémon coexisted alongside normal animals and were more like, well, pocket monsters but as time went on Pokémon's fauna ended up only being Pokémon. The only exceptions are stuff that aren't conventionally thought of as animals such as coral or sponges, but the former has a Pokémon equivalent anyways in Corsola.
Anyways, how do they know what real-world animals to equate each species to compared to describing them based on observable traits like "Lonely Pokémon" or "Formation Pokémon"?
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaPokedex entries only fill in after you've caught a Pokemon; never for Pokemon you've merely seen in the Wild or fought in a Trainer battle. Having to catch the Pokemon wouldn't be a barrier for a kid's wild imagination to start filling in details.
So I've always figured it was pretty evident that the system is scanning the Pokemon that you capture. Caught Pokemon are digitally stored; they can be transferred to a hard drive or upgraded using programs burned onto CDs. In that state, it's pretty easy to assume that the Pokedex, which is a computer, is scanning the big chunk of Cubone data that you have inside the Poke Ball.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Maybe the Indian elephant thing is translation convention for the benefit of the players
Forever liveblogging the AvengersJust to clear something quick: Red is trying to fill the Pokédex for Prof.Oak, but Ash Ketchum was never tasked with doing any such thing. The Pokédex entries in the Anime can therefore be assumed to have been written by that guy's interns.
In the game, the jury's still up on whether Red is imagining all of those entries or not. I should add, though, just because some Pokédex entries are clearly inaccurate (children turning into Kadabra), others seem to be accurate (Hypno being known to kidnap children). While it's sensible to not rely on its entries, we can't discard them entirely, either. We may even have entries that are only half-true (Machamp punching 100 times in a second has been proven by Pokkén, but him being able to move mountains seems to be false, judging by the recent animated short).
...
Anyway, I support Ash Ketchum vs. Marcus Damon / Masaru Daimon. Final Destination, no mons, fists only. Would be awesome.
The Pokedex presents it as a rumor, but there's nothing to say it definitively never happened.
There's nothing proving it happened either. And nothing to explain how the pokedex gets that info from scanning any random Kadabra.
If anything I'd assume the "Only fills when catched" to be some requirement to reign in the kids. A guarantee the kids have interacted with the pokemon so some data (like their size) is mostly accurate.
Right, but that can't translate to "clearly inaccurate".
Does it? Coz I think putting unsupported facts in what's intended to be a scientific encyclopedia is a no no.
And that doesn't change that the pokedex has clearly incorrect info. Magcargo is not 18,000 Farenheits because its mere presence would melt a hole under it and it'd fall into the mantle of the earth and it'd kill its trainer (and most things) by its mere presence. Salazzle's entry tells you that there are only females, BUT these females create harems of males (who don't actually exist?). Spoink's entry mentions that if it stops bouncing it'll die coz the bounce activates its heart... but Spoink can be frozen, paralyzed and fainted without ever dying.
And lets never forget Cubone.

Never mind throwing a tree trunk. Watch Ash casually lift◊ a 2204 lbs pokemon◊
(Of course that's assuming you don't subscribe to the theory that the Pokedex, being written by literal 10 year old children, is 100% entirely wrong about everything)
