Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

So they'd rather have an unstable sociopath than someone who would hold them accountable. Got it.
Say, it just hit me that it's September 11 today here in Saudi Arabia, and should be the same in the USA right now. Has Trump made any of his usual crass and/or egotistical blunders involving the occasion like in the past couple of years?
... Also, I am reminded of how a few years ago, US citizens had to be forewarned (don't know if it was a government agency or an NGO) that that particular's year 9/11 would just so happen to coincide with one of the the lunar-based Islamic calendar's major religious holidays and thus should not mistake celebratory behavior by Muslims in both the US and elsewhere on that day as being about the 2001 terrorist attacks.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.> I can think in multiple ways how that could backfire
Me too, what do people with lots and lots money have alongside their wealth?

If they truly think she's a threat and its not just for the cameras you can bet they're going to throw their money behind whoever keeps them safe from Warren

Let them try, either our system is capable of being led by people who are not puppets of Wall Street or it isn't.
And if it isn't there sure as hell isn't any reason to knowtow to their selfish parasitism. And if there is it won't matter either way so she has even more reason to make them afraid.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnFuck me, Tucker Carlson just went full Nineteen Eighty-Four on us, declaring that Bolton was "fundamentally a man of the Left".
Because it's not like people are incensed at the manner in which Bolton was booted, as opposed to his ousting itself.
"Why would I inflict myself on somebody else?"When you're so far to the Right that Bolton is a Leftist
Watch me destroying my countryDon't worry, he'll be claiming Bolton as one of them as soon as it's convenient.
Oh really, Tucker? I'm glad Bolton is gone, it still doesn't change the fact that Trump hired him in the first place and not firing him face-to-face was a cowardly and discourteous thing to do.
Also, I'm pretty sure the Iraq War wasn't started by a Democratic president.

@ Marq
Well he made his usual boasts ("Everybody who is gonna attack America is gonna face the full consequences!" etc). Nothing too special.
As far as 9/11 goes
Well this makes me mad
So basically, most NC Democratic legislators were at a 9/11 ceremony so they wouldn’t have been in house for votes. The NC Republicans used that absence to override a budget veto that they couldn’t before because Democrats were also in session.
Like, what a scumbag move
Now that's just petty, frankly.
I can only hope the lesson to never, ever trust a republican has been learned.
SoundCloudWhat stings even more according to the article was that some of the head D legislators had a tacit agreement with a few R folks to not pull this sort of shenanigans
So idk if this is super illegal but it is absolutely super unethical
Yeah, no way in hell is that not going to court, because just... fucking christ, man.
And that said - why weren't these fuckers at the remembrance ceremony?
Pretty sure that'd be the History Eraser Button (You Fool!).

New theme music also a boxThe word of a Republican is worth less than nothing.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Get this bullshit, from one the human garbage piles that voted pulled this stunt.
"As a former firefighter and an American, I am appalled that anyone in our country would stop going about their normal business on this day. When we stop being a beacon of freedom, hope and democracy, then the terrorists win,".
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. They obviously forgot about 'Never Forget'
New theme music also a boxx2 The Democrats of North Carolina (and really, the entire country) should really point this out next year: "Instead of honoring the fallen Men and Women, who died tragically, on 9/11, these Politicians used dirty, underhanded tricks to push their agenda and spit on hardworking Americans. Is this how you would honor the fallen?" You can even display this line during the ad, it'd be really powerful to Independents and Democrats (though I imagine most Republicans will just tune it out at this point).
That could also be a good way to end the Ad. "Never Forget. (Democratic Candidate here) 2020."

Yay, more for profit concentration camps!
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Not surprised. The Supreme Court's role is not to determine whether the President should, morally, do XYZ. But rather if he can, legally, do XYZ.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.So it's working as intended, then?
In a way, that's even worse.
