Anime/Yuru Yuri

Anything about this show is funny, except for Akari since episode 2

My case rests here

She is Standardized Leader, The Generic Guy, the Normal Girl etc. She has no outstanding qualities in a series with extremely popular character types as three Tsundere a Yuri Fangirl, Tall, Dark and Bishōjo really would you remember her?. She is needed as a baseline but really she wouldnt get anything special and shift to the background over time as the Ensemble Dark Horse s take over. (aka the Cyclops effect)

Instead throw her to the wolves make her the Unlucky Everydude and make her try and keep the lead... And fail (Kyouko is the real lead.)

Making fun of The Normal Girl has been done a few times before... Remember Nami Hito in Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei?

Akari started out with a unique personality, and still has one (she's child-like). The author noticed that he wasn't doing much with her, and decided to turn her into a running gag instead of just letting fade into the background (as paradoxical that may sound)

And that alone, is stupid of the author

It could be worse she could of turned into Yui who had the same problem, the solution for her was turn her into a The Ditz.

No, thats the point. The entire point of Akari as a character is that she doesn't stand out. Its entirely intentional. She will start standing out a bit more though

Episode 5

Oh god that was awesome.

First epic Kyouko/Ayano at Comiket

Then awesome Himawari/Sakurako tsun tsun. And Himawari's little sister! Who's completely adorable and awesome

And then finally Chinatsu's true side! AKARIN/CHINATSU FTW!

Loved this episode so, so much.

Akari's face at the end.... is so wrong, yet so right

Himawari's little sister. That was amazing

Her expression sold it fantastically.

Makes you wonder how much experience she has talking Sakurako down.

Best episode ever.

Poor, poor, Akarin.

And by the same hand, poor, poor Chinatsu.

Also little sister was... was...

Damn, this was a great episode.

Did anyone actually get what the episode title is a shout out to? "Akari toka Minminzemi toka Naku Koro ni" “When Akari and the Cicadas Cry”

The "Naku Koro ni" makes it rather obvious, even though Higurashi aren't mentioned in it.

... Now I have to think of a Higurashi/Yuru Yuri crossoever. And it sounds more appealing than it should.

Screw you guys, Akariiiiin! is my favorite character. She is adorable, and so naive that she doesn't realize that she is in a yuri anime even though it is titled Yuru Yuri. And she does have presense, you just have to pay attention. And poor Akari, she is definitely emotionally scarred now due to Chinatsu being a crazy mollester.

I am so glad they added Himawari's little sister, that kid is hilarious! "The warped society brought about by our modern education system is to blame," indeed.

I see, the last episode was based (partly) on chapter 21. Incidentally, I read that chapter just today.

Akarin can't get married anymore...

I loved it. So dark, so wrong.

Since it isn't technically rape or mollestation, I vote we call what Chinatsu did to Akari "forcible frenching."

Comuket was amazingly funny, I was laughing or at least smiling the whole time. Kyoko's doujinshi seems surprisingly good, and the cosplays were cool.

It was even funnier before they got there. Who wasn't cracking up when Ayano kept on going "Eh?"/"Huh?"/"What?"/whatever with that face while they travelled to Comuket?

I was just wondering why Ayano didn't bother to ask where they were going, from train to train, from the middle of the night to morning. That girl must really like surprises. And I don't know how it is in Japan if you have a train pass and everything, but at least in the states, train rides are expensive. Rule of Funny I guess.
