I'm actually surprised at how well the Steam overlay integrates with games that use services like EA Online or Games For Windows LIVE. If I need my Product Key, I can simply bring up the Overlay easily.
Also, can we use this thread to post our Steam nicknames?
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelApparently another thread has been produced for handling steam names. :p
Anyhow, I'm running into a bug for the Mac version that I can't find any information on through simple searches. Every time I close down Steam (and I mean every single time), it freezes my computer for about half a minute. Won't respond to clicks, keyboard input, or anything else for that time, though the cursor can still move around. Graphics also freeze. No idea what effect it would have on audio.
It's very annoying, and I'd like very much for it to stop doing that.
Sakamoto demands an explanation for this shit.Odd, maybe they'll fix it.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelSeems like a lot of work to fix a bug that afflicts like what, seven people world wide?
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritBumping this thread to ask a small question— if I have the retail version of a game (in my case, Peggle), is it possible to activate that game on Steam? Just out of curiosity.
Thread bump. Puzzle Pirates is now on steam. Yarrrr.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.I believe so, blueeyedrat. I bought Just Cause 2 hard copy the other day and steam authenticated it by default during installation. I'd have a poke around on the steam forums and see what they say, though.
Anyone know how much of a cut Steam takes on non-Valve games?
10%, I believe.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyMind if I ask how you know? I was trying to look for such a number by searching their site and searching Google and I haven't found it.
Hmmm...honestly, I just heard it somewhere, so take it with a grain of salt :P
I know that a developer makes more from a Steam purchase than from a retail purchase, though.

Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.Magicka is currently free-to-play until Monday, as well.
^ Darnit, I posted in the other thread announcing discounts on Aquaria and Braid, but you got to this one first.
Though yeah, we should probably support Steam / Valve anyway. why
Geneforge is on Steam?
GENEFORGE IS ON STEAM!
(I don't even like the series that much, but it's basically a Biopunk Shin Megami Tensei. That's worth $20 for a 5-game set.)

That's Feo . . . He's a disgusting, mysoginistic, paedophilic asshat who moonlights as a shitty writer—Something AwfulNeed a quick answer guys. Right now they're selling Hydrophobia: Prophecy for only $2.29. Is it worth getting?
Damnit, it's $2.25 now. I got it when it was $2.99. (And actually paid $3.69 for it because it was bought by my friend in the UK and gifted to me; Steam charges higher prices in the UK for some reason.)
That said, I don't know whether you should get it. It was not playable on my computer likely because my computer's specs are too low.
The premise seemed interesting, and that's why I grabbed it.

I haven't heard great things about it, but...
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelWhy is it whenever I go on Steam I end up buying something?
...so many sales...so many crazy cool sales...
They're just that good at marketing.
Magicka get! (and all of those little DLC's too.)

Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans. The Super Meat Boy sale annoys me, mostly because some of the characters with featured games (Gish stands out) aren't in the Steam version. Hell, Gish isn't even the PC version, and three of the games (Half Life 2, World Of Goo, and Gish) have characters that function the exact same way!

Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.Thankfully, they're available for purchase separately.
All Discussions Pertaining to Steam can go here that way we can cut down on snowclones Subject to mod approval
First some big news: Steam now does Free to play (or allegedly so) M Mos. Champions Online, Global Agenda, Spiral Knights, Alliance Of Valiant Arms and Forsaken World now up for download.
