So I guess Dodge Greenly uploaded the pitch storyboards from Pibby onto his website. I know apparently The Darkness was supposed to be about internet culture or something; but the way the plot goes about this seemed pretty, um... bad.

Take a peak for yourselves.

The emojis and Totally Radical dialogue from Skunky and Ally Gator after they've been caught does take a little bit of the terror out of the Darkness, yeah. Maybe they could have still found a way for it to work, though?

Maybe the smiley face was for ease of storyboarding the darkness's 'head'?

I could see the intentional contrast between how it’s acting and what it’s actually doing to add to the horrific stuff going on.

x4 I agree that the Darkness being an overt reference to the Internet, complete with Emojis and l33t sp34k, does weaken it as a concept, but I think it would've worked fine enough.

My question is: Are storyboards really this many? I know storyboarding is an important process but it seems like many of the storyboards are unneeded/repetitive here (especially the 'learning opportunity' star, could be condensed to 2 in my opinion).

In storyboards, any time something about the image changes, there needs to be a drawing conveying that.

So it's been brought up how it's weird that WBD greenlit something as bad as the Suicide Squad game while not giving as much love to something like Coyote vs. Acme.

Turns out it's because it's the opposite extreme problem. While not enough studio execs are that emotionally invested in Coyote vs. Acme, people at WBD have been obsessed with making a Suicide Squad game. That thing was in the works for fourteen years.

There's no middle ground here. You either got chucklefucks Running the Asylum forcing their glorified fanfiction on us, or you got chucklefucks who don't care about anything but making investors happy.

Probably locked in the WB vault with all of the other cancelled and unreleased projects, and the fourth Warner brother we are forbidden to speak of. Hell, I'd argue that the project was cancelled before the merge was even conceptualized.

There's been reports of a new live-action Scooby-Doo series in development. Because it's at Netflix, David Zaslav can't do anything to it.

Ha, true. Another L for him after the first one which is the completion of The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie and the fact that it's safe under a new distributor.

But the biggest, most humiliating L for Zaslav is when, of course, Coyote vs. Acme succeeds in being released, making it the first WB tax write-off^note Scooby-Doo! and Krypto, Too! does not count since the writer confirmed it's not cancelled. to see the light of day and potentially paving the way for a similar, possible reversal for Scoob! Holiday Haunt.

They fully deleted the masters of Batgirl from their servers, though. Unfortunately, there's no chance of us ever seeing it.

But does that bother some people, though? Apparently, no. Test audiences reportedly disliked the film and compared it to "a bad TV episode". Some people have also even criticized Batgirl's costume, pointing out it looks like something from a CW series.

If there's anyone else who wants to share their uninterested opinions and criticisms on Batgirl, let me know.

The movie's costume was directly inspired by the fan-favorite "Batgirl of Burnside" costume, I don't really see the issue with it.

Not to mention, given DC's track record of some of their recent movies that have been released, I'm willing to bet some people have said it's for the best.

Yes, I'm sure Zaslav and the board are really mad about making money from the deal with Netflix.

Yeah, "some people" probably have said that. So what?

Some people also do care and wanted to see Batgirl. The test audiences thing was a BS excuse. They released other stuff that tested as badly.

I'm willing to bet many people bashing Zaslav are thinking something along the lines of "I liked you better when you were just CEO of plain old, no-Warner Bros. Discovery!".

No, people hated him before WBD. He's the guy responsible for turning Discovery and TLC into nothing but reality-TV trash like Honey Boo Boo and My 600-lb Life. He was always unfit to run a major movie studio. He only understands garbage schlock-level entertainment, not genuine works of art people put effort into.

MeTV is launching a network dedicated to classic cartoons called "MeTV Toons." It's set to launch on June 25 and their website is up. Relevant to this thread, they're planning to air Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, Droopy, and Hanna-Barbera cartoons like Top Cat. If Touche Turtle's presence on the website means anything, they're planning to air that show too, which is crazy, considering that the masters for the show were severely damaged and that is why there's no complete series DVD release for it.

They're also airing 2 Stupid Dogs, Freakazoid, Krypto the Superdog, and Xiaolin Showdown. Xiaolin is 21 years old by this point, so fair, and Krypto is turning 20 next year. Methinks they have at least a few members of Gen Z Running the Asylum.
