I think both of those sound like good proposals.
I didn't write any of that.Agreement with OP
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickMinor correction: the snippet I was thinking of (from the same confrontation as the existing trope name) is actually Give In To Your Anger. Anybody have a better suggestion? (That one sounds good to me, but I could always be overlooking something better.)
Give into your anger/hate sounds too wide, and is a less obvious reference to Palpatine. Strike Me Down with All of Your Hatred!, I think pretty much everyone knows that the sentence ends with ...and your journey towards The Dark Side will be complete.
I agree with the OP:s initial objection, but renaming the other trope would be better IMHO. "Please Kill Me", perhaps?
And while we are at it, should we merge Strike Me Down with I Cannot Self-Terminate?
Why would we do that?
Fight smart, not fair. That would require the tropes being in any way whatsoever similar besides involving death in some way.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.@Xzenu — "Please Kill Me" would be much too wide, encompassing both of the tropes under discussion here and also a range of other possibilities (e.g. seeking euthanasia or martyrdom).
If anything, making the connection to the Star Wars scene a bit more subtle is an advantage IMO; tropes are supposed to be generalized rather than specialized.
As for broadening this trope, I think it makes sense — there ought to be a trope for the general concept of provoking the hero into lashing out in order to get him to corrupt himself, with getting the hero to kill you being the extreme case (intersecting with other tropes such as Thanatos Gambit) rather than a fundamentally different concept.
Alternatively, we could keep the existing one and add Give In To Your Anger as the supertrope covering non-lethal examples (though it would still leave the issue of Strike Me Down and Strike Me Down with All of Your Hatred! being too similar — if we're going to go to the trouble, might as well fix both issues at once IMO).

Not totally for to renaming Strike Me Down with All of Your Hatred! to Give In To Your Anger.
Might be worthwhile to rename Strike Me Down as well, although "Please Kill Me" sounds too much like I Cannot Self-Terminate. Possibly something like "Finish Me!"

They lost me. Forgot me. Made you from parts of me. If you're the One, my father's son, what am I supposed to be?Sounds good to me. The current name for this trope is good. the combination of physical violence with hatred is embodied in a goading and malicious way. Strike Me Down can be renamed Finish Me without any loss.
Give In To Your Anger sounds good, and broadening it to non-lethal examples works too.
I like Finish Me.
The name of Strike Me Down with All of Your Hatred! is a bit too similar to Strike Me Down, but the concepts are sufficiently divergent ("I want you to kill me because it will push you toward a FaceāHeel Turn" versus "I want you to kill me because I don't want to live with the humiliation of being defeated by you") to be separate and distinct tropes.
Proposal Part 1: Rename Strike Me Down with All of Your Hatred! (suggestion: "Give In To Your Hate").
Proposal Part 2: Broaden the definition of the trope to include non-lethal cases (which are currently homeless AFAIK).
