  • Booker T. And the M.G.'s - Green Onions
  • Janis Joplin - I Got Dem Ol' Kozmic Blues Again, Mama!
  • John Mayall - Blues Breakers With Eric Clapton
  • Otis Redding - Otis Blue: Otis Redding Sings Soul

  • Battles - Mirrored
  • Midlake - The Trials Of Van Occupanther
  • Explosions In The Sky - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place
  • Owen Pallett - Heartland
  • Mew - And The Glass Handed Kites

I think that's a selection of albums that covers some, if not all, of the facets of my musical taste. Not necessarily my 5 favourite albums, but the five that cover the broadest range while still being awesome.

Good to see Diamond Eyes getting some love. By far my favourite Deftones album.

  1. Rush- Power Windows
  2. Depeche Mode- Playing the Angel
  3. Homestuck Vol 4
  4. Homestuck Vol 2
  5. Homestuck Vol 3

I'm the kind of person who listens to individual songs rather than entire albums, even though I try to do the latter.

  • The Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs
  • Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime
  • The Clash - Sandinista!
  • Joanna Newsom - Have One on Me
  • Tom Waits - Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers and Bastards

If I'm going to only listen to five albums for the rest of my life, I'm going to have as much variety as possible.

Oh, I'm pretty much a fan of anything (that's not Dream Theater)

I prefer Ys, personally, but I'd rather listen to Have One on Me for the rest of my life (because it has more songs and I'm not as familiar with it)

Three is all I'll need.

  1. Merzbow, Merzbox
  2. Klaus Schulze, The Ultimate Edition
  3. Leslie Howard, Liszt: The Complete Piano Music

Speaking seriously, I have no idea. Maybe the first two of those, actually; sounds like a good life endeavour...

  • Rush - Moving Pictures
  • Led Zeppelin - IV
  • Pink Floyd - The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
  • Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast
  • The Beatles - Revolver

Might switch out the Maiden for either Blue Oyster Cult's Secret Treaties or Megadeth's Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?. Yes I am cheating sorta.

no one will notice that I changed this

  • Death — Individual Thought Patterns
  • Acid Bath — When the Kite String Pops
  • Type O Negative — World Coming Down
  • Judas Priest — Sad Wings of Destiny
  • Sigur Rós — Takk... (because I need something relaxing and ambient)

Exile on Main Street - The Rolling Stones

Traccion Acustica - Enanitos Verdes

UnPlugged - Soda Stereo

The Joshua Tree - U2

Who's Next/Quadrophenia/Tommy (Whichever of those three. Don't feel like choosing right now) - The Who.

Sadly, I know I will look at this list and go "Duuuuude, why would you choose X when you can have Y?" in a few weeks as my taste changes.

Okay, so that's gonna be hard because not a lot of my favorite albums are ones that wouldn't make me want to off myself (which is an important thing to consider when you're limiting your music selection for the rest of your life).

  • Agalloch - The Mantle (it's depressing but beautiful)
  • Autechre - Tri Repetae (just a perfect electronic album)
  • Cynic - Focus (blows my mind every time I listen to it)
  • Gorguts - Obscura (considered From Wisdom to Hate, but this one just lasts longer)
  • Seefeel - Quique (not imperfect, but has some of the most beautiful ambient music I've ever heard)
