It really does. I think they nailed almost everything. I'm immensely excited for this. And I think it's going to be very successful, which I mention because I was about this excited when I first saw the trailer for The Golden Compass back in high school, and we all know how that turned out...

Looks Twilight, the Aeon Flux movie and the Rollerball remake put into a blender. Twilight not only killed the vampire genre but it's killed the fantasy movie too (as seen by this and the trailer for Snow White and the Huntsman).

The trailer's quite chilling. The costumes are nice, along with the music...considering they barely shown the actual games in the trailer, I hope that will live up to the book.

This may be the first trailer in a long time to not show the best parts of the movie, but instead showing just enough to make people see it

Yeah, I think it was well-designed. Gives us the set-up, then encourages us to experience the rest. Just seeing the set-up was enough for me, though.

That is perfect. The characters all look exactly like they should (and Effi sounds exactly right, down to the annoying accent), and all of the imagery recalls the books extremely well. And the dialogue is pretty much the same as well.

If this is representative of the movie, it should be good, and very enjoyable for fans of the books.

While it isn't what I expected (am I remembering wrongly, or did they do a Race Lift down the line? Also, interesting color scheme.), but I find Katniss' actress' voice...interesting.

Yeah, this is unusual in terms of being a trailer. I want to see the actual games...

Jennifer Lawrence is from Kentucky. That explains the voice.

I don't think there's any Race Lift - Rue and the boy from her district both have black actors, and I don't recall the race of anyone else being mentioned in the book. There are some people who claim that Katniss is black in the books, but I don't see much to support that view as it's never stated outright in the book and as she's from Appalachia.

Bad news: Danny Elfman's score got rejected by the studio. Its replacement: yet another (likely) boring score by James Newton Howard. So expect some Zimmer-lite material.

Am I the only one who likes how the trailer downplayed the children killing children aspect?

Who knows maybe Howard will do a score like The Village again.

Howard hasn't been the same since joined Zimmer's company. He just churns out bland, emotionless product now.

It's too bad. Signs had a damn effective score.

Just saw the trailer. It was awesome, though I thought it was funny how the last few notes we hear are a Jimmy Hart Version of the Harry Potter theme.

At first I didn't realize I needed all this stuff...

So, many of my friends in real life have been gushing about this book recently, and I saw the trailer (again) today, and I must say that it seemed more impressive on screen than my friends' descriptions of it made it sound like.

Is the novel any good? And, from the trailer, is the movie generally similar to how the novel was? I'm debating giving it a chance, so...

I thought the whole ordeal was portrayed as a bad thing.

Besides, if you think this is bad, read The Long Walk by Stephen King. tongue

[up] Frank Darabont has been trying to get an adaptation of that made for several years now. I read the book in junior high (Stephen King is my favorite author) and with Darabont directing, it should be interesting.

I haven't read it in forever. I know it was one of the few Stephen King books that legitimately disturbed the fuck out of me, and I love the guy.

Anyhow, how about this movie? Does it look any good? Is the book good? I'm running blind here, guys! [lol]
