I have no idea what that is, but I've had good experiences with that type of setting in previous CDTs.
The main problem is that they're kind of limited when it comes to doing a lot of stuff beyond just conversation. The big sandbox environments offer more options.
I think smaller scale would be good. We haven't done a smaller scale thread in a while, and it has merits not found in larger threads. Adventure has plenty of space to operate within, but little of it is being used. The remaining active groups have condensed in ways that have been difficult to break from within the narrative of those groups, and no one seems interested in carving out a new group or space at the moment.
Like Killer Clowns was getting at, smaller scale allows for less commitment, plus the condensed environment begs a certain rapidity that tends to keep them pretty regularly active for the duration of the thread, short though it may be. There's always something stirring just a stone's throw away from any given character, and the stakes are rarely (if ever) high enough to restrict movement between smaller groups.
The CDTs have been in a dry patch for a while, and if the outsiders' perspective is that they are too complicated or that Continuity Lock-Out is a great enough concern as to afflict non-omniscient characters, then it seems like having a simpler option is the way to go.
every little word and every little stepSooo are, like, reebooting again to go smaller?
I thought we were launching a new thread separate from Adventure.
every little word and every little stepOH.
I'm dumb, lol, sorry!
To me, Adventure sounds like a good idea for a roleplaying setting. Thing is, I think so little of it is being used simply because currently we are so few people posting on it, which limits the pool of characters that could be added.
If anyone is interested, I had an idea for a smaller setting, that I had called 'Storm Refuge': Set in a closed place during the middle of a storm, as it's name would imply. The general 'premise' that I thought was that the characters would be wandering the countryside for whatever reason, when out of a sudden it starts raining hard, so they seek refuge in the closest place they find, which could be an Abandoned Warehouse or a very large mansion, abandoned or otherwise. They wouldn't be able to leave until the storm subsides note , giving a reason for all characters to be confined in the Closed Circle and interact with one another, or maybe do stuff to make their stay more comfortable.
Merry belated Christmas, y'all. I'm exhausted. I had a tough dogsitting gig with nigh-zero internet connection up until Christmas Eve, and then of course that day and Christmas was spent celebrating with my household.
Remind me, what were Cynthia and Diantha hoping to accomplish in the Ghost Town?
Are you referring to the undead wyvern that Seenarnha fired a sword-torpedo at?

If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.Hey, welcome back Miss. Looks like the suspension thing was sorted out after all. I was beginning to wonder...
Glad you had some folks to celebrate with. Had a nice Christmas Eve here myself, with a very comfortably lazy day proper.
You can probably tell, but not much has changed in Adventure since things got sidetracked. Masterofchaos moved Maya to the dorms and sort of retired her characters for the night, and Will and I put Bonnie, Carol, Joseph, and Henry on a truck heading away from the danger zone in the forest.
Edit:
Hmm... I may be. Sorry, sometimes I get a little lost in the fantastical tech talk and can overlook key actions. Plus I don't recall a follow up on Will's end. Was it a ghost Wyvern?
Edited by Ryuhza on Dec 27th 2020 at 1:46:27 AM
every little word and every little stepI don't know where I got "ghost" from, so I've just amended it to "undead". If all else fails we can say the sword-torpedo missed.
This is what I had written for the forest right before I got suspended:
Battle (Carol, Lily; Mequoql, Seenarnha, Blackthorn) vs. Crimson Spitfire
Seenarnha was unperturbed by the lunge and followed through on her ultimatum until the spitfire submitted. Then she praised the wyvern for submitting. She directed the beast to follow her to a random tree at the edge of the clearing and bite off its top. She dismissed Lily's worries with "Pay-grade is a lousy system of measurement. I hardly ever get paid at all and I can still handle a dragon."
Meanwhile, Mequoql couldn't believe her ears. Was Explorer playing some sort of game with inaccuracies or was she really that uncomprehending? She couldn't read her mind to find out, it was still unsettlingly blank. Under other circumstances, Mequoql would have followed up on that, but she was busy. In the time it took her to say aloud, "Less talking, more helping," her telepathy clarified, "You do realize that the time you spent saying all that was time you could have spent removing the obstacles to us going to the Hellmouth that I picked out for you, right? So the more time you spend on anything but helping, the less seriously I'll take your spiel to go there. Honestly, this should be obvious even if you aren't a game theorist." Mequoql turned away from Explorer and towards Seenarnha, signaling to Morpho while grumbling, "And once again, if I want something done right, I've got to do it myself." She did not trust Explorer's comprehension anymore after what Explorer had just said.
Sidelines (Bonnie; Morpho; Henry, Joseph)
Morpho stooped forward and took the shape of a wise old hunchback sage with a long beard. He raised a now knobby finger and answered Henry's question with a question, "Ah, but why would we use up our own ignition when the enemy's ignition is ripe for the taking?" Then he assured Henry, "And fret not about the fire spreading too far and reaching your home, that's what Seenarnha's telekinetic barriers are for."
Then, receiving Mequoql's signal, Morpho lost his shape, flowed forward and became a curved focusing mirror tilted towards the waxing gibbous moon.
Mequoql raised the moonstone in her fist to the cross-point in the air where all the gathered moonbeams were focused and adjusted her grip until the light flooded the gem. She sang
Morpho monitored the sensors on stickers on Mequoql's skin. How much nenro from the moonlight would the moonstone use instead of draining Mequoql?
But Mequoql wasn't done yet. She pictured what Joseph's lizard body would look like five inches shorter, ravaged with anorexia, and colored a dull muddy orange. She focused on manifesting that altered copy as an empty shell for Arku and pushed the command into the gem.

If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.Looks like most of it can fit retroactively into what we have going, though I don't know if Kkutwar is going to be coming back to write Explorer. He hasn't petitioned his suspension any further since early this month, and given that he had just returned from a years long hiatus a few months ago, it's possible he'll depart again. Beyond that, I won't speculate.
Anyway, I double checked my posts, and it looks like I only ever had Henry reacting to or seeing the second wyvern. If it was indeed brought under control earlier, then what he saw/felt can be chalked up to an overactive imagination, supercharged by hysteria.

every little word and every little stepMasterofchaos, I need your help collaborating an answer to this question: How much nenro from the moonlight would the moonstone use in addition to or instead of draining Mequoql?
Will, did Bonnie finish all the spells to make the moufreta corpses look like the party's corpses? I'm asking because Seenarnha wants to put a fake Mayatan corpse underneath the treetop she's commanding the spitfire to bite off.
If I recall correctly, I thought Carol's truck crashed nose-first into a tree? Wouldn't that wreck the engine? If the engine isn't wrecked, how far away is the truck? It'll be leaving obvious tracks that have a high chance of ruining the ruse if something drastic isn't done.
If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.
It would take a lot. More specifically, Mequoql would have to hold it up by the moon (any phase of the moon will do but it's more effective under a full moon) for about a minute until it glows brightly. It won't drain her since it's taking energy from the moon.
I'm figuring the meat puppet of a wyvern simply was torn free by the eldritch necromancer dragon controlling it. Who needs both wings?
Bonnie's craftsmanship provided humanoid corpses which were ment to be incinerated. An autopsy would reveal the ruse.
As for the truck, I... Kinda forgot I had it crashed into a tree. We can chalk the truck not being totalled to being Made of Iron. Or rather, some form of steel or something.
Meanwhile, having another wyvern and a potential dragon on the way, Lily and co. pretty much realized the plan was going south and are focusing on the immediate safety of the civilians of the group.

It's a solid premise similar to settings we've done before, to pretty good success. I'm fine with it, but I've been fine with Adventure and don't quite get some of the standing issues with it, so I don't know if my feedback is particularly valuable.
every little word and every little stepI mean, my standing "issue" with Adventure is just that it's hard to get into at this point.
I kinda like that idea, honestly.
I guess I don't entirely understand what makes it hard to get into, compared to any other thread.
every little word and every little stepNothing inherent, but at this point it's 81 pages long with very fragmented groups. (The latter part is really the bigger issue; obviously you don't need to read the whole thread.)
That's one reason I use headers for my post sections; I can press ctrl+F and type in keywords, such as places or names, to find the relevant posts.
Aren't fragmented groups an inevitability (or a least a great likelihood) in such a large setting? What would a more preferable group situation look like?
Miss, to clarify, Mequoql's actions with the moonstone are just preparatory, right? She hasn't spurred Arku to move or answer anything, yet, has she?
Yes, just preparatory.
If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight. The order got a bit switched up in the Hummingbird. Since Masterofchaos took her turn while Miss was on suspension, I believe it's Pyxo next, then Will. Will, you're also up in the Forest places, when you get the time.
Begging for a happy new year
every little word and every little stepHappy new years, everyone!

Happy New Years. May the Creator see fit to balance the scales knocked askew by all the shit 2020 threw at us.
The hotel setting does seem to be working pretty well for Murder-free, yeah.
