(I'm not sure whether to put this here or in Live Performances, but with the crowd-sourcing and Youtube of it all, I'll stick it here.)

When it became apparent that the first Spider-man musical to hit Broadway was going to be a disaster, most simply accepted it. But a few, like minded fans of Spider-man and musicals, had the strength to stand up and try to avert the catastrophe.

Their goal? To perform, within 30 days, with a budget of $0, a Spider-man musical that did not suck; to ensure that the first Spider-man musical to open in New York was actually good. In desperation, they reached out to the Internet for help.

The result, 30 days and $0 later? The (surprisingly awesome) Spidey Project.

Website here. Part One. Part Two. Part Three. Part Four.

(I'm torn between wanting to spread the word, and wanting to protect it from the lawyers with obscurity; but seriously, this needs to be troped.)

So... what do you think?

There is literally no way that they could possibly get their work onto Broadway in that short of a timespan.

Fanfiction I hate.

Ah, it was done in a small venue in New York. Not Broadway, but the same city.

No, that would make it an Off Broadway play.

A distinction only New Yorkers and people who give a shit about musicals actually make, I can assure you.

I give a shit about musicals but I don't make the distinction.

At first I didn't realize I needed all this stuff...

If it's acted in New York it's seen as close enough by most people. I know the distinction and care but getting a good Spidey musical in New York is still cool. It may get big by word of mouth though. The A Very Potter Musical scenario.
