Not sure about that. I mean, it's not a competition or anything, but Affleck wasn't subject to harassment from fans.

[up][up][up]It can't cost something you likely gave up in the first place. Look, I know a lot of fans were holding out hope he'd be the star of the Reeves Batman movie, but pretty much all signs were pointing to Affleck not being involved, even before he checked into rehab. The reports that Reeves was looking for new, younger actors have been so frequent that it's hard to imagine they're all bullshit.

So, remember how Alec Baldwin was going to be Thomas Wayne?

Yeah, that's not happening anymore.

Why is this movie self-destructing?

I mean I wasn't too thrilled for yet another Batman film so soon, but I don't think it deserved all of this bedlam.

Because WB is doing a "throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks" approach.

What is self destructing? One actor left the film.

Ray Fisher talks about the lack of progress on the Cyborg spin-off. Basically, he says it'd be pretty pricey given the character is entirely CGI, and right now the studio is moving away from needlessly spending that kind of money now that Walter Hamada is running the show.

Wasn't Ray Fisher the one who was vaguebooking a while back?

What does vaguebooking mean?

When someone makes a vague post on social media for the purpose of eliciting a "what's wrong?" response. Specifically, he did it when he posted a poem without any context.

Does Cyborg really need to be constantly CG all the time?

I figuered it was just getting a really good costume & the CG comes in during the sonic cannon moments.

I mean, isn't Iron Man mostly CG? A full suit is really uncomfortable to film for long periods. Though can't they streamline his design a bit more so there isn't as much Kibbles and Bits ?

In the comics, Victor has the ability to shift between human and cyborg form. If they brought that into the movie, it could solve the CGI problem.

I could see them introducing it for the sequel, but I'm operating on the assumption that that concern over Cybernetics Eat Your Soul would be the primary emotional core of the movie, and giving the character an "out" (even just visually) would undercut that (as it's a visual medium, so even if he still feels like a machine, if he looks human, audiences will have trouble understanding his problem).

I'm a bit disappointed, because vaguebooking star aside, I think Cyborg has the most potential in the DCEU. He's the sole character not made redundant by Superman in JL so that's something, and there's a ton of potential for exploring his character (which was somehow overexposed and underdeveloped in JL).

I mean, isn't Iron Man mostly CG?

Two big differences here:

- Iron Man does not have the majority of screentime in any given movie. Most of Tony's screentime is out of the costume. What Ray is saying is that Cyborg pretty much is the costume, so you're spending a bunch of money on VFX every time he's on the screen.

- The MCU has been successful enough of a brand that they can spend large amounts of money and be comfortable in the guarantee they'll make it all back, plus a tidy profit. On the flip side, the new DC film head, Walter Hamada, was brought in precisely to trim down costs because the DCEU movies were ending up wildly more expensive than they should've been (Batman v. Superman cost 250 million, while Justice League cost at least 300 million after reshoots).

A few years ago, WB might've been perfectly fine spending 200 million on a Cyborg flick, but that time has passed.

"Superman is like James Bond, and after a certain run you have to look at new actors,"

... what.

Anyhoo, mixed feelings if true. I like Cavill and Justice League showed he can be a pretty good Superman if used correctly. But they just... haven't really been doing that? Everything I dislike about DCEU Supes comes from writing and direction, not the actor.

Also, really wouldn't mind if as a course-correction they just went into prequel-mode or standalones... basically steer as far from BVS as possible.
