Xenoblade Chronicles

I've done pretty decently on rare blades. I got Ursula (polar bear girl), Adenine (book fist girl), Azami (creepy puppet gun girl), Floren (little green ball girl) and Vale (Gothic Lolita spear girl).

Lotta girls is what I'm saying. I unlocked all of them from nearly every single Rare Crystal I've gotten so far (Just finished the Uraya city section).

I haven't gotten any rare Blades yet, but then I've only gone and used five Core Crystals thus far.

I tend to max out a Blade's affinity chart before I summon a new one.

I've only obtained 3 Rare Crystals so far and only used two of them.

The first one gave Rex a 5* healer who can talk to foxes and the second one gave Nia a 2*.

I have yet to find a single Blade who grants Driver Arts that do things like AOE stat buffs/debuffs or inflict damage over time effects (playstyles like Riki or Melia).

Rare Blades are always the same, right? Any given instance of, say, Adenine is going to be exactly the same as any other Adenine summoned, right?

It's only the generic glowy dudes who are randomized.

Speaking of Adenine, is she aware she's missing chunks of her body?

Mind you, the arts will be different since the Driver determines the Art palate, but yes they'll have the same Affinity Chart.

Right, yes, the Driver determines the arts.

But otherwise they're consistent between separate instances of the same Blade? Not just the Affinity Chart but stats, roles, ect?

Correct. For example, Wulfric is always an Earth element Megalance Attacker with 5 levels in Focus, Earth Mastery and Superstrength, whether you set him on Nia or Rex.

Huh. Looking at the credits of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, looks like Aya Hirano voices one of the Rare Blades. I wasn't aware that she started up voice acting again.

She voices Boreas(Wind healer), I got him last night. I was quite surprised as well to see that she was his Japanese voice.

I just got him too and had the same thought.

I at first thought that Rex was a generic character, but the later chapters really cement his personality rather well.

Note for everyone playing the game that despite the light-hearted start of the game, this is still a xeno game by heart. The game takes a tonal shift into a more dark, phylosophical game in the second half.

Kinda like all the other xeno games.

Okay, so I loved the first Xenoblade, and I enjoyed my time through X even though I didn't finish it.

I got two questions I have that I'd like to know the answers to while not watching anything about the game (I like my blind playthroughs)

• Is Xenoblade 2 worth it?
• Is there a Nopon party member this time?

You get Tora relatively early (kinda around Sharla). His Blade is rather special.

Poppi (Tora's artifical Blade) starts out as a Tank, but you customize her as long as you play the mini-game Tiger! Tiger! I spent a decent amount of time on it myself in order to deck Poppi out.

But I'm wondering, I am currently in Chapter 3, but whenever I try to switch Poppi's role, to say healer, but Tora's arts don't change. Is that intentional? Or will they start changing later on when I try to change her role?

Also, Digital Foundry's technical analysis. Only chapter 1 and 2 spoilers:

TL;DR first: 720p 30fps docked, dips down all the way to 398p in handheld, worst handheld performance of any Switch game at this time, temporal anti-aliasing, uses the same engine as XCX, but does everything better, non-main character NP Cs hav horrible models (I laughed at the subtitles DF added in at that section), and weird framerate issues when out in the world and then going into town which drop it down to almost 20 fps.

I'm curious, has anyone else had the issue of some environmental textures taking a few seconds to load after you finish using skip travel (or respawn from a death)?

The textures this happens to are things like walls of caves, roads in cities, etc. The shape appears, but the actual texture that goes on that shape sometimes doesn't appear until a few seconds after I gain control.

Everyone has seen that. It's supposed to lower load time. I'd rather it loads completely.

I don't even know what a blade is, but I'm definitely picking this game up around Chritmas.

A gigantic Bufo just photobombed one of the Heart-to-Hearts in Mor Ardain. Gotta love how the enemies are still just walking around while the characters are having a nice conversation.
