I recently added a page image to You Fail Animal Care Forever, and I noticed something at the top of the page: "Please don't list this on a work's page as a trope. Examples can go here or in its subpages."

Two things:

1. You Fail Animal Care Forever doesn't have subpages.

2. Generally speaking, what are the standards by which we decide what is put on a work's page and what is not?

That's a generic banner, for both pages that have subpages and those that don't.

For some reason, all the You Fail X Forever tropes are listed as subjective, even though they aren't.

The reason the You Fail family was listed as subjective is several fold. One is that, although objective, it does impact the story despite being inaccurate to the real world (making it trivia) but Fast Eddie believed it encouraged "fault finding" in works. The other was that the error might break Willing Suspension of Disbelief for those who know their stuff, making it a subjective as not everyone is going to have their WSOD broken.

Even if it is subjective, doesn't that mean it could still go on a YMMV page like other subjectives? (After all, other subjectives, like Complete Monster, say "put on a work's YMMV page.")

You want this thread.

We're currently in the process of chopping them all up, in which case the YMMV banner might go away.
