Yeah. The Qing, despite expanding China to its greatest territorial extent, was also a time of great socio-political stagnation.
Which is rather ironic, since Kangxi is about one of the most open-minded Chinese emperor of them all.
He adored Western maths and physics, for one.
Support Taleworlds! Why is there no Voltaire/Blake fanfiction? Not a whit!
A True Lady's Quest - A Jojo is You!True; but Kangxi was only one of the Qing Emperors.
I dunno, I have a more plausible pairing in mind.
And besides, it's not like you can FIGHT DA POWAH when that power's been in place for like 4000 years...
Next up: Apparently St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre was so bad, even Ivan Groznyi is horrified by it.
Support Taleworlds! And the blame has been shifted through the years - from blaming Catherine de Medici to the Guises to the Parisians themselves.
Don't give me that guff, Kin-chan; Foe Yay sex is incredible.
A True Lady's Quest - A Jojo is You!Spoken by a saint.
Support Taleworlds!Yeah, I have something like that in mind, too.
Add Roseau for more Foe Yay.

ᐅᖃᐅᓯᖅ ᐊᑕᐅᓯᖅ ᓈᒻᒪᔪᐃᑦᑐᖅYou want Foe Yay? Look not further than Napoleon Bonaparte and Duke Wellington.
Seriously though, let's not go there.
Support Taleworlds!Yeah, that is one big case. Great rivals born in the same year, too.
Napoleon / Wellington slash would be funny enough I'd have to read it.
A brighter future for a darker age."Yes, my Little Corporal", Wellington whispered in the Corsican's ear, "squirm, lest this be your Waterloo..."
Oh, come on, you know it's as plausible as Frederick The Great/Maria Theresa. Or for families, imagine Romeo And Juliet... yet with the Bourbons and the Habsburgs replacing the Montagues and the Capulets.
This does have potential. I'm not sure I would have sufficient motivation to write it, though :)
A brighter future for a darker age."Frederick The Great / Marie Theresa"
Umm, trashing each other's plans and completely always working to stop each other does not sound like sexual tension to me.
Then again, you tropers do tend to think that everything is about sex, so I guess I shouldn't talk.
Never be without a Hat! Hot means heat. I don't care if your usage dates to 1300, it's my word, not yours. My Pm box is open.http://www.thearma.org/essays/Fabris_the_Assassin.htm
Argeus read this, you'll love it. It has Poles, Swedes, political intrigue and a master swordsman as a masked hired assassin.
"Atheism is the religion whose followers are easiest to troll"That's why we're obsessed with Foe Yay.
Is it bad that the first thing that enters my mind when I see Poles and Swedes mentioned in the same sentence is the Deluge?
I personally like a nice subtle Napospierre. But I know I'm alone in that. ^_^;
A True Lady's Quest - A Jojo is You!"I'll be the Reign of Terror to your Continental System~"
Aaaaand AU fic in 5, 4, 3...
"Your madness has brought this country to the brink of destruction," the dark man said curtly. "I will not permit it to infect me."
Robespierre smiled, his dark glasses glinting in the light of the setting sun. "You've had a hard day, my dear General, and so I'll overlook your... candour. Just this once." Rising from his seat, he laid a hand on the taller man's arm, squeezing it in a would-be reassuring gesture. "I'm sure that, upon reflection, you'll come to see my wisdom in promoting you."
Napoleon threw off the offending limb, staring at the politician with undisguised contempt. "I think you'll find," he spat, "that threatening a military man is not as easy as cowing your fellow jumped-up shopkeepers."
Lightning-quick, the soldier sprang forward and slammed the blond back onto the sturdy oak desk, knocking the breath out of him. Robespierre's eyes watered, and he was just about to call the citizens' guards outside to help him when suddenly he felt a warm tongue in his mouth and a pair of vice-like lips wrapped around his own. For a moment he froze; when he eventually attempted to push the taller man off of him his arms were swatted away like bothersome insects, and the kiss grew deeper, hungrier, until he felt it would devour his soul before it were through.
Finally his assailant came up for air, the loathing he bore his prey evident on his sallow face. The blond renewed his struggle, squirming in the Corsican's grasp and kicking wildly. "What the devil are you doing, Buonaparte?!" he cried, his voice cracking as it had not done in years. Silently he cursed its betrayal.
"Gaining the advantage," Napoleon growled, diving for Robespierre's mouth once more.

A True Lady's Quest - A Jojo is You!I laughed.
To be fair, it was not exactly the fault of either emperor. At that point the central philosophy on which the Chinese government, administration and everything lies upon was seriously outdated and prevented any form of reforms that could have bettered the country in terms of modernization and bringing it up to date with European contenders.
The moral from this is that when the world is changing and you are not, you can expect to get an epic ass-whopping some time in the near future.
