Yeah, it poses more questions than it answers, and kind of throws out what's done before. It's curious for all that, Blaze of all characters now has the most straightforward explanation. Fans have made that more confusing than it needed to be, Sega's stance has always been she's from her own dimension. Which, is oddly consistent outside of 06 and references to it.
Woooo

¡PONLE QUE DIGA!:"¡HUMONGOSAURIO HASTA LA MUERTE!"There's a post that explains Blaze's situation (from the JP side of things), I can dig it up if you want.
EDIT:Just to be clear, I don't meant a post from this site.

¡PONLE QUE DIGA!:"¡HUMONGOSAURIO HASTA LA MUERTE!"I always figured that Blaze sealed herself in another dimension but still lost her memories due to time shenanigans, but apparently that was just too sensible.
Here it is, it's a reblog since the original blog is private.
¡PONLE QUE DIGA!:"¡HUMONGOSAURIO HASTA LA MUERTE!"I find that post makes a lot of assumptions of its own. For instance, all the word of god backstory we have that Blaze is a princess of the Sol dimension. contradicts the idea that she was from the future. 06 is never once referenced in Rush, nor Rush Adventure, and Silver doesn't get so much as a mention.
As usual, Word of God is correct.
The simple answer: She's a Princess from another Dimension.
The best answer: She's always been a Princess from another Dimension.
And fans have to ruin it by trying to lock down the continuity aspect.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.You could argue that's because she doesn't remember Silver. On the other hand, that brings up the question of why she remembers Crisis City in Gens.
Fuck me the last World Tour in Sonic Racing Transformed is hard.
You know what I think is the problem? That Sonic Team now want to be Mario. Bowser is evil king guy who kidnaps Peach, Peach is good princess who gets kidnapped, Mario is good guy who saves Peach. We don't need details or backstories. And now Sega doesn't want Shadow to be any more complicated than, say, Wario.
It's especially obvious with guys like Deadly Six who are just The Bad Guys. We dont know what they want, what they exactly do as a team, or anything about their race. We just know that Deadly Six are zeti and zeti are things that live on Lost Hex and Lost Hex ix place where Deadly Six live and Deadly Six are a group of zeti and zeti are things that live on Lost Hex.
Sonic Racing even has Zavok working for Eggman, because something as simple and obvious as "Zavok hates Eggman" goes too far beyond his simple Bad Guy definition. Oh, and supposedly, he's no longer in charge of Deadly Six.
And by working for Eggman, you mean...working begrudgingly with.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Oh, and unless you count the comic tie-in, it's not even said that the Zeti live in the Lost Hex
They just kinda showed up under Eggman's control, could've been from anywhere
... Anyways, I don't think it's to do with Sega wanting their mascot to be more mascot-y, but more-so the general writing quality. If they wanted to be like Mario, then the plot would be as simple as "Eggman kidnaps animals, Sonic stops Eggman, the day is saved"
I do writing, feel free to check out my stories here! https://numbugwritingblog.tumblr.com/post/686233243868102656/numbugs-shared-heroic-uniI mean...that's generally what the plots have boiled down to in the past 10 years, except for LW and Forces but those games also have terrible writing so...
Sonic is cursed. It's just a case of bad luck, developers having no clue what they're doing, and Sega just no longer seeing any profit to seriously fund the series anymore.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. That and Sonic Team having zero confidence in the franchise, if not themselves.
You can't really blame them though; Sonic Team seems like they aren't allowed to do anything but make Sonic games, and they have to do so within a strict time frame.
All of the times they went all out with the series, it was generally met with mixed to negative reception.
You can't really expect somebody to have confidence in a product that's been regularly ridiculed and mocked no matter what you do. And on top of that, you aren't allowed to do anything else.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. They do make the Puyo Puyo games, don’t they?
SoundCloudI mean, I understand why, but still.
Which sells nowhere near what Sonic does.
Yea I know, it sucks to witness. I want this series to succeed, but fate keeps conspiring against it to keep it in mediocrity.
Granted, its not doing bad now, but it's not really excelling in anything either. The series just kind of...exists right now.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I'm torn on whether or not that's worse.
But hey, they're doing the new Sakura Wars. That's something... right?
Sonic was to be the anti-Mario. What helped make Sonic stand out in the 2000s was its often dark, plot-heavy stories. That's what drew many fans in. Sonic was different from Super Mario Bros. Excuse Plots may work with sidescrollerd, but even the Classic games had more in-depth plots than most Mario games
I mean it took Sega a little less than a decade to decide it wanted to release one of its biggest games worldwide.
The company is clearly kind of a mess, and Sonic Team bears the brunt of that. Sega's lucky it has such powerful and independent subdivisions like Atlus and Creative Assembly.
Well..Sega is fine in Japan. Its everywhere else in the world they seem to have a problem with
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Because Japan is the only place they don't have to rely on Sonic to bring money in.
Sega has a lot of good IPs under its belt, but they won't do anything about them because they won't sell 1mil+ copies.
Happy 28th birthday, Sonic!
The Protomen enhanced my life.
