<AU Dream World!Gene: "Yeah. Looks like it... How were you guys able to find that place anyways?">

<Zoe: "Oh, that Slenderman Dusknoir made an offhand reference to that place one time when we met him... And we did a little digging around... That's how we found out that you were that one Sandshrew...">

-A pause-

<Zoe: "... Isn't this weird for you? You missed out on so much because of a little stroke of fate...">

<AU Dream World!Gene: "Yeah, I know... But... There might be a way for me to catch up... It's a really long shot though...">

<Zoe: "Huh? What is it?">

-In the OU Dream World-

<Dream Gligar!Vlad: "... You're still upset, big me?">

<Vlad: "I don't know... It's just that no matter what I do... Everything that I saw and did keeps coming back to me... I used to be able to say to other Pokemon that were scared of me that I'd never kill them... That I wasn't that kind of Gliscor...">

<Dream Gligar!Vlad: "But you aren't that kind of Gliscor! If you were anything like me, you did anything that you could to avoid having to hunt back in the wild...">

<Vlad: "I did... But...">

<Dream Gligar!Vlad: "I mean... It doesn't change what happened... But... If you could have... Would you have done anything different back then?">

<Vlad: "(*shudder*) Yes.">

<Dream Gligar!Vlad: "So you made some choices that were scary... And that were probably a mistake... But... Don't you have a life beyond that?">

<Vlad: "... But those Po-">

<Dream Gligar!Vlad: "I don't think that we can do anything about that, big me... I mean... I don't know how that it would work... But... You could always try to find those Pokemon...">

<Vlad: "... But how? And I wouldn't know enough about them to make a manifestation of them here that would necessarily be anything like they really were...">

<Dream Gligar!Vlad: "Um... Maybe we could ask around...">

<Milo: "... Okay, that really sounds like a game...">

<Audrey: "Yeah... It's like one of those platformers... Wasn't it from that one with that backpack that acted as a water cannon?">

True, even if they seem to mature fast... Rufus is still harboring a grudge against Mezzo's Liepard, for instance. At least it has distracted him from trying to prank anyone else... we have enough troublemakers running about.

-overhearing Thresher- ...you have been up to interesting things, then. -grins slyly-

Abigail: <Wow! Did you do much fighting on your own?>

Pankaja: -hearing Audrey and Mike- <Water Gun? I can do that!>

Thresher: <Well, Tracer and his intern were with us for one fight, but everything else we did ourselves.>

Susan: <Just chatting with some locals.>

DS' Latias: -swoops down and tacklehugs Susan and Pentigan together- <-Squee!- I missed you guys so much!>

-Does a silent "Aww"-

We missed you too.

So, you discover anything interesting? Or has your adventure been solely random battles?

Abigail: <So, err... have you brought up the evolution thing?>

Latias: -glides down next to her sister, and exchanges her own hugs as well- <I can't believe how long it's been since we've seen you.>

-Pulls out the human-to-Pokemon armband-

Yeah, I even took a trip to the Dream World using it. Interesting place.

Thresher: <Yeah, I still have time to think. Problem is I think Tagg's a bit distracted at moment though.>

Oh! Really?! Wow... so many questions...

Umm... most profound I guess- did it still work after you took the armband off?

Abigail: <Well, we'll be traveling with Tagg for a bit anyhow... maybe it'll be easier to bring the subject up then?>

-Susan and Wolf's Latias have gone off to talk someplace, leaving me sitting in the Ranger station watching DS's Latias talk with Tepig-

-Shrugs-

I forgot to try it. Maybe tonight.

Thresher: <Yeah, maybe.>

- Is asleep, cuddled up against Anom -

- Odette and Tulip are already awake, and are quietly discussing amongst themselves what color Anom's hair is -

Tulip: <I'm pretty sure it's brown, yes.>

Odette: (shakes head) <Blue.>

Tulip: <No, no. It is clearly brown, yes.>

Odette: <Blue.>

Tulip: <It might appear blue sometimes, but it is brown and it's probably the light making it look blue, yes!> (tilts head slightly in confusion) <Or... is it the other way around, yes?>

Odette: (tilts her head slightly)

Tulip: <Hmm... We're not going to be able to figure this one out, are we, yes?>

Odette: (shrugs)

-Falls asleep, Susan and Wolf's Latias return sometime later to sleep-

A few hours ago

-Floating in a void deep inside my mind-

Well, Gamer came to me in that alternate universe through astral projection, so maybe if I tried that...

-Closes my eyes and starts focusing-

Think thoughts about the Dream World. Think like a Pokemon...

-Opens my eyes to find myself in Swampert form inside the Dream World-

<Well, I'm here.>

-Thinks for a moment-

<Well, if this place is anything like that dream realm we went to...>

-Focuses for a moment and transforms back into a human-

Then I can change forms without an armband.

-Turns back into a Swampert-

<I'd rather stay like this though while I'm here.>

Tarroco Island - Beach

-If Harriet could chirp, she would.

However, Honchkrow could only caw loudly instead. So she had to make do with cawing with joy instead.

She was far too happy to care at her lack of vocal grace, though. After what had seemed like an eternity of being in stuck in that coral reef, almost constantly submerged in cold, smothering water, rendering unable to stretch her wings and simply fly, they had finally returned to land...And fresh air at last.

Fresh air that she could spread her wings and soar effortlessly through.

The feeling of simply flapping her wings and flying was liberating. Almost overwhelming, even. Never had the simple act of flying made Harriet feel so...happy.

She had taken it for granted, really. Flying was an amazing ability, and it was only once she had it taken away that she had realized this.

It was true what they say: You don't miss something until it's gone.-

Pleo: <Hey, Harriet!>

-The Honchkrow was shaken out of her thoughts by the voice of Pleo calling up to her. Guessing that he probably wanted to talk to her about something, Harriet swoops down and lands in front of him.-

Harriet: <Hey, Pleo! What's up?>

Pleo: <Oh, I've just been watching you fly! You're really good!>

Harriet: -Grins.- <Aw, thanks!>

-A thought occurred to Harriet. Pleo was a bird, so surely he could fly as well? In fact...She hadn't seen him fly at all in the short time they were on Tarroco island before taking him down to the Reef. Why was that?-

Harriet: -Tilts her head.- <Pleo, can you fly?>

Pleo: <Oh. Um...> -Looks awkward.- <...Not really.>

Harriet: <Huh? Not at all?>

Pleo: <Well, my Dad showed me a few things, but he left before he could finish teaching me.>

Harriet: <Aw, that's awful, Pleo.>

-Jeez, he couldn't even teach him to fly properly before he left? Lugia was beginning to sound like an unfit father.-

Harriet: <What did he manage to teach you?>

Pleo: <Only how to glide, so far.>

Harriet: <Right...>

-Hmm. That was better than nothing, but still nowhere near as good as true flight.

An idea suddenly stuck the Honchkrow. Pleo was a bird. She was a bird. Birds teach younger birds to fly, so...Why couldn't she do the same with Pleo? He was going to be traveling with them for the time being anyway, and it didn't seem like his Dad would be coming back any time soon.

The only problem was that Lugia might not be so keen on the thought of a stranger like her teaching his son to fly. After all, teaching your own hatchlings to fly was an important experience for a parent bird Pokémon.

But then...It didn't seem fair on Pleo for him to wait until his father came back from goodness knows where in order for him to learn how to fly. So there was really no reason why she shouldn't teach him instead.

And if Lugia didn't return until after she had finished teaching him, he would just have to deal with it.

...Or he could get angry and vaporise her with Areoblast.

Maybe that wouldn't happen. Harriet hoped so, anyway.-

Harriet: <Hey, Pleo? Since you're going to be with us for the time being, would you like it if I taught you how to fly?>

Pleo: <Huh? You...You would really show me how?>

Harriet: -Nods.- <Sure. There's really no reason why I couldn't show you a thing or-WHOA!>

-Harriet suddenly finds herself on the receiving end of a great big hug from Pleo.-

Pleo: <Thank you so much, Harriet! You're such a nice Honchkrow! I'll be the best behaved student I can be for you! Promise!>

Harriet: -Blushes.- <Aww, you're a good kid, so I bet you will. Now...>

-Pleo lets go of Harriet, allowing her to spread her wings.-

Harriet: <...Let's get started, shall we?>

-Watching Harriet and Pleo-

<Teala: "He's really adorable, isn't he?">

<Iggy: "Yeah, he's quite somethin- Wait... Where's Gene?">

<Teala: "Huh? I thought he was with you!">

<Iggy: "... Oh boy...">

<Milo: "So, you up for playing stalker again today?">

<Audrey: "It's not 'playing stalker,' it's joining in on some fun!">

<Milo: "Right... So we are going to do this, right?">

<Audrey: "Of course, why wouldn't we?">

<Milo: "Makes you wonder what the others are up to right now...">

<Lardna: "What do you mean Audrey and Milo ran off?">

<Kat: "Yeah, that's the sort of thing that Gene would do!">

<Sonny: "Maybe his idiotizm rubbed off on them.">

<Shaun: "Look, I'm surprised as much as the rest of you, but we really should let Tracer know about this...">

<Courtney: "Mmm hmm hmm... So I'm guessing that you're going to volunteer one of us to go off on some stupid chase for Tracer?">

<Vlad: "Hey, he's our trainer! He needs to know!">

<Misha: "And it'll be a priklyuchenie!">

<Sasha: "... Why do we allow you to talk again?">

<Irina: "It would be nice to get out of this lab...">

<Alonya: "Da... It really would...">

<Shaun: "Hmm... Maybe we don't need to be so drastic... At least not yet... Let's try finding the others in the Dream World first... We can tell the ones with Tracer about what's happening and ask Audrey and Milo just where they are...">

Treeo: <Oh no, has he wandered off again?>

-Treeo raises his head, having been lying on the sand basking in the sunlight near Iggy and Teala.-

Treeo: <I don't know how he does it. I swear that me and Harriet didn't take his eyes off him for a second just two days ago, yet he still somehow managed to slip away and end up getting some local Carvanha riled up with him.>

-The Sceptile shakes his head as he recalls the experience.-

Treeo: <I wonder how you guys manage to cope, sometimes.>

-Wakes up after having a long philosophical conversation with Cobalt in the Dream World and is now walking across Mandarin's desert-

So what I am going to do today?

-Is somewhat surprised by DS, but then remembers and relaxes-
