Beck continues to answer Clara's queries while Tommy returns to taking pictures of the Geoglyph.

Beck: PEFE is a research organization dedicated to expanding human understanding of pokémon behavior. Originally, the founders just set out to update Pokédex entries, but today, our mandate also includes routinely anomalous and dangerous items and study them. Y'know. Fallers. Ultra beasts. Odd bits of mad science strewn about. We kind of double as a hero organization because of how many of our founders and members are J-Team affiliates.

Clutch backed up a bit, <Not made of meat, I can't grease my gears with their blood.>

Marauder just sneered, <So we are fighting void monsters.>

"Glitches technically," Hayden responded, "Which many here have experience with... heh, we're in good hands."

Arthur just grunted and directed Clutch to grasp the Double with a psychic.

Silas summoned Knight, and commanded a Aura Sphere attack.

"I am very not okay with this."

"Ah ya get used to it! Come on now, we have work to do!" Knight responded.

Silas blinked as Colton and Ammy entered, "Hello there, here to see what's going on?" he asked.

Roxy smiled, "Babe, you got work to do, I'll fill everyone else in on what's going on."

Silas nodded, and kissed Roxy, before stepping out with Hacks beside him, Henderson followed, the ruins awaited.

Roxy turned to the newcomers, "Alright so then, what's going on is there a monster in the ruins and catacombs of this hamlet, it brings madness and horrors. Silas here owns the hamlet now so he has to go fix it," she summarized.

“Hm. Sounds fascinating... the PSE organization we have in Coconuro just serves to try and teach Pokémon how to speak English. We’ve been looking into expanding to Kanto and- MUM! DON’T TOUCH THAT!”

Clara jerks her mum back away from the Rotom just as her finger grazed it. Even so, the senile-bewildered look on her face remained static.

<I just want to pet the electric person...>

<Mum, you can’t do that, you’ll get shocked and- and I don’t want you getting hurt, you’re my mum!>

Turffield Stadium Stands

Fuka, Suzie, are watching the video feed of Will performing the Gym Mission of herding Wooloo and battling the Gym Trainers along the way. Sami is perched next to Fuka while Waka rests on Suzie's lap.

Fuka: He's doing a lot better at this than I'd have expected from a city boy like him.

Suzie: He's been helping out with the Pokemon at home with your dad. Notice how he's using his Nuzleaf to keep anyone from slipping out of the herd?

Fuka: Oh, yeah. Dad used to use Sami for that.

Fuka rests her head on the Garchomp. Suzie frowns as Will handily beats a Gym Trainer.

Suzie: Fuka, explain something to me?

Fuka: Hm?

Suzie: Will's handling these battles just fine. He's even got that adorable silly grin on his face while he's doing it, so he's clearly enjoying himself. So why is he okay with the Gym Trainers, but the mere suggestion of battling a Gym Leader puts him half a step away from a temper tantrum?

Fuka (Raising her head from Sami's shoulder): I saw this when I first met him in Blackthorn. The trainers on the way to the Leader, he can handle. Once he's facing the Leader he loses all motivation and can't fight like he normally does. Knowing how he feels about Gyms, I think the difference is they're actually trying to stop him.

Suzie considers this.

Suzie: So, in his head, the fact that these guys are actively trying to prevent him reaching Milo means they're fighting him as hard as they can?

Fuka: Which means they're more fun to fight in the first place.

Suzie: He does know Milo is stronger than any of them?

Fuka: He also knows Milo is likely going to hold back most of that strength. He's only the first Gym, after all.

Suzie nods

Suzie: But these guys aren't, as far as he knows, so he can battle to his little heart's content. (Suzie sighs) I hope I did enough to motivate him then.

Fuka: I think he'll be fine. It's all about the challenge for Will, and you forbade him from using anything that might give him an advantage. That's huge for him, next to his old mom.

Suzie snorts.

Suzie: "Old" mom. I like that. Makes me sound like the "young" mom. (Gives Fuka an aside glance) And yes, I am aware you meant "old" in comparison to "new", but I'm taking the antonym I prefer and you can't stop me.

Fuka laughs.

A cheer goes up as the young Challenger completes the mission and enters the elevator to begin the battle proper.

Suzie: Guess we'll see if I did a good job in a few minutes.

Gimbal floats away. This was not the time for confrontation.

Gimbal: <whoa, there ma'am. Personal space.>

Tommy: Please don't touch my mom.

Beck: Sounds interesting. Y'know, I usually hear people try to learn the Pokémon language rather than teach them the language itself.

Gimbal: Hard when you're trying to re-learn a language once the Ghost Amnesia sets in.

Beck: I once knew someone who could use machines to make Pokémon talk human languages. Brilliant man. Terrible moral values.

-Noelle is lying in bed, with a particular moonbat wrapping their wings around her-

Noelle: I think being gay just means I'm a little bit in love with all of my friends, but... -sigh-

Astral: <What's wrong?>

Noelle: Fortis is just the most amazing person I've met. She's so talented, and cheerful, and sweet... I think I'm falling for her. But is it wrong for me to feel this way about her? I know she's 18 now, but she's still so much younger than me. I want her to be happy...

Astral: <I understand. I love her too.>

Noelle: But for you, it's different, you know? You love her like a child loves their mother.

Astral: <She is my mother.>

Noelle: But that's not what I'm talking about. I mean like, romantic love.

Astral: <What is romantic love?>

Noelle: It's, um, it's hard to explain. Being in love is like... it's like the best feeling in the world. You want to spend all your time with that person, and you can't stop thinking of them because you love them so much.

Astral: <I want to spend all my time with her. How is that different?>

Noelle: It's different because... because it just is. It's about being close to someone in a way that you can't really be with anyone else.

Astral: <I don't understand.>

-Noelle sighs and hugs Astral more-

Noelle: That's okay. I just really need someone to talk to about these feelings. I'm so scared that I could hurt her because of this, and ruin our friendship. And if I did, I would never be able to live with myself...

Astral: <Why would you? You said you want her to be happy.>

Noelle: And I do! I just don't want things to get out of control.

Astral: <I still don't understand.>

Noelle: And that's all right. Let's just keep cuddling. Oh, and one more thing...

Turffield Stadium, Kim vs. Milo, Pre-AFD

(The PokeBall grows to a massive size, and Milo picks it up and throws it over his shoulder. It opens... and within seconds an Eldegoss emerges from it, while glowing in a red light. Said Eldegoss then grows bigger. And bigger. And bigger. Within seconds, he is towering over both Kim and Elton, both of whom gaze in awe at the Eldegoss.)

Elton: <Whoa...>

Kim: "That was... incredible..."

(The Eldegoss looks down at both of them and smirks. He proceeds to speak to them— and when he does, it's still the same voice as before, but much louder and with an echo effect, almost as if it is being blared through a speaker.)

Eldegoss: <Dynamax, my dear Elton. I'm betting you can't do anything like that.>

(Meanwhile, from behind them, the Yamper runs off and hides underneath the stadium seats in terror.)

Yamper: (terrified) <OH NOES>

Yamper: (terrified) <THE ELDERGOOSE HAS DINOMAXXED>

Yamper: <SOMEBODY SEND HALP>

Yamper: <PLEEZ>

Yamper: <SCARY GIANT ELDERGOOSE>

(Elton, meanwhile, looks on at the giant Eldegoss looking down at him in fear— then suddenly, the realization seems to hit him. He turns to Kim— who nods in determination, takes out her phone, and proceeds to blare https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26wEWSUUsUc. She then takes out the Wishing Star that Ian gave her, and holds it up to the sky. Milo blinks.)

Milo: "Huh...? But you don't have a Dynamax Band."

Kim: (smirks) "Oh... I don't need a Dynamax Band."

(She continues to hold it up in the sky, and the energy from the Power Spot suddenly comes bursting up from the stadium and towards the Wishing Star. She then takes out Elton's PokeBall and returns him to it, with Elton himself being particularly delighted by this. The Eldegoss, meanwhile, looks on in stunned disbelief as the energy from the Wishing Star transfers straight to Elton's PokeBall... which suddenly grows to a massive size.)

Eldegoss: (stunned) <No way... That— that's IMPOSSIBLE!>

(Kim responds by smirking right back at him, before throwing the PokeBall in the air. It opens, and Elton emerges from it... before suddenly being surrounded by a red light and growing bigger. And bigger. And bigger. Elton, meanwhile, looks down at the floor, which is getting farther and farther away from him.)

Elton: <It's happening...> (He laughs with delight.) <IT'S HAPPENING~!>

(The red light fades, and a giant Elton is now standing on the battlefield, looking over at a similarly giant Eldegoss. He grins over at the Eldegoss mischieviously.)

Elton: <Now, what was that you said about Dynamax bein' impossible?>

(The Eldegoss blinks.)

Eldegoss: <...I suppose I might have been mistaken.>

Elton: (smirking) <Right, you were!>

(Seconds later, a few more of Kim's PokeBalls open up, and within seconds, Dio, Ozzy, Geddy, and Kaylan are all standing there. They look around for a bit— and when they see Elton, their jaws all drop in shock.)

Dio: <No WAY!>

Kaylan: <I-is that...?>

Ozzy: <I do believe it is! Elton's managed to Dynamax without a need for a Dynamax band!>

Dio: <YEAH!! YOU GO, ELTON—!>

Turffield Stadium, Pre-AFD

-Recording of the battle continues.-

-Ian and Evelyn jump up and cheer for their friend Kim as she figures out how to Dynamax her Pokémon without a Band.-

Me: WAY TO GO, KIM!

Evelyn: YOU CAN DO IT!

Piku-chan and Hatty: <Fight hard, Elton! You can do it!>

Turffield Stadium, Kim vs. Milo, Pre-AFD

(Elton suddenly notices that Ozzy, Dio, Kaylan, and Geddy are out, and turns to them, shooting them a grin.)

Elton: <Oh, 'ello, there, chaps! Sorry, you'll have to wait a bit for conversation, I've got an Eldegoss to take care of.> (He turns to Kim.) <Shall we?>

Kim: (grins) "We shall."

(And with that said, he opens his mouth and proceeds to let loose a burst of fire at the Eldegoss.)

(The Eldegoss takes a lot of damage from the attack... but he still stands there, glaring over at Elton the entire time.)

Eldegoss: <So... you think you can just defeat me in one go, eh? I'll have you know that I'm a lot stronger than that!> (He turns to Milo.) <What do you say, Milo? Hit 'em with the ultimate attack?>

(Milo nods.)

Milo: "This'll leave you in shock and awe! Go for it, Eldegoss!"

Eldegoss: <Gladly.>

(He stomps on the ground— as best he can, of course, he is an Eldegoss, after all— and in a single second, giant green mushrooms sprout up from the ground, surrounding Elton. Said mushrooms proceed to release giant, super-sharp leaves that proceed to cut into Elton and push him back a bit.)

(But effective enough to hurt Elton a bit. Dio immediately sinks, as has the Yamper that has been watching the Gym Battle the entire time.)

Kim: "Elton? Are you alright?"

(Elton groans a bit, then turns to Kim and grins.)

Elton: <Don't worry, Kim! I'm still doing good!>

Kim: (smiles) "Excellent." (She points ahead.) "Now... go on and hit them with another Max Flare to finish it off."

Elton: <Will do!>

Eldegoss: <Not yet.>

(But Elton doesn't seem to hear him, as he opens his mouth and shoots forth another burst of fire at the Eldegoss... which is immediately blocked by the Eldegoss suddenly pulling up a giant blue Protect barrier.)

(Elton blanches— then glares over at the Eldegoss with anger.)

Elton: <Oh, so is that 'ow you wanna play it, eh?! I'M GONNA GET YOU FOR THAT!>

(The Eldegoss smirks.)

Eldegoss: <Oh, I don't think you are.>

Elton: (taken aback) <W-what?!>

(The Eldegoss smirks, then jumps into the air, creating cracks on the battlefield in front of him. The cracks get bigger and bigger and spread out towards Elton, who tries to get away, but finds that he can't do so because of his size. Within seconds, the ground underneath him explodes upwards, and Elton falls forward.)

Kim: (terrified) "ELTON—!"

(Dio, Ozzy, Geddy, and Kaylan all look on in concern.)

With the attack from the "Performa"-hungry Shadow, Rage and Love removed the blindfold and had Mercury appear, the Rockruff throwing himself at the Shadow with Zen Headbutt before vanishing and reappearing on the Thief's shoulder via some quick work with his blindfold.

"Sounds like fun," Ammy and Colton chorused.

"Wait, what? No, you're not going. We both know it's too dangerous to deal with something so eldritch. Oh, and you can handle it? Yes, I'm hardened to stuff like this. Sure you are, what you do on the side is so terrifying. Fine, come with, see how fast that resolve falters."

Turffield Stadium

-Ian, Piku-chan, Evelyn and Hatty gasp as the Max Strike hits Elton with deadly accuracy-

Viridian City, MMO Space:

As the fight continued, the Clawitzer's health would be whittled away to about 60% before its attack pattern changed. The Clawitzer would stop using ranged attacks, coiled itself, and began using Rollout to chase around the party. In this current state, the Clawitzer couldn't be damaged and there were no obvious targeting indicators, but it was fairly easy to dodge as long as one paid attention. Travis was able to make his Grovyle avoid taking any damage, however he was close a couple of times before finally leading the Clawitzer crashing into a statue and knocking them out, unrolling into a vulnerable state that Travis would waste no time in exploiting with a Solar Beam attack.

Paige Manor, Awkward Waiting

Phineas, in [German]: <You think they can understand us?>

Upton, in [German]: <I dunno. This is why I told you that you should learn [Hopi]. The odds of meeting someone from Eddisburg are astronomically high.>

Phineas, in [German]: <More than anything, they probably have ways of understanding us. That woman in particular. Didn't we see her across the street somewhere?>

Upton, in [German]: <Maybe. Was that the same lady talking to the one really scary lady that gave you feelings of dread once?>

Phineas, in [German]: <I still can't understand why her companion scares me, but she does. Just thinking about it makes me profoundly more fearful than whatever we could possibly expect down there.>

Upton sighs.

Upton, in [German]: <A pastrami sandwich would taste very good right now.>

Tommy eats a Pastrami sandwich after a hard day's work. He seems oddly satisfied that it wasn't taken from under his nose like the last ten times he made one. It's also ridiculously difficult to find pastrami in Galar.

(Kim runs up to the clearly hurt Elton in concern.)

Kim: (panicked) "Elton! A-are you alright? Say something!"

(Elton groans— then turns to the Eldegoss and growls in rage. Slowly, he pushes himself up off of the ground, all the while, crying out:)

Elton: <...YOU THOUGHT THIS WAS OVER, EH?!?!>

(And all of a sudden, an explosion goes up— and Elton immediately begins to glow in a bright blue light. The second they see the light of evolution kick up, Dio, Geddy, Ozzy and Kaylan all look on in shock and disbelief— as does the Yamper, although he is still lying under the stadium seats.)

Dio: <I-is he...?!>

Kaylan: <I think he is!>

Yamper: <no WAY>

Yamper: <the scoorbun is evolbing>

(Milo and the Eldegoss, meanwhile, look on in disbelief.)

Eldegoss: <Incredible...>

Me: A Dynamax Evolution?! That's something I've never seen before!!!

Evelyn: Wow...

-Evelyn levitates her Pokédex into her hand-

Evelyn's Pokédex: Raboot, the Rabbit Pokémon, and the evolved form of Scorbunny. A Fire Type. Its thick and fluffy fur protects it from the cold and enables it to use hotter fire moves. It kicks berries right off the branches of trees and then juggles them with its feet, practicing its footwork.

The Manor House

-With that, Gale follows along behind Silas-

So, actor. I hope you realize this is seriously going to be a combat situation. Not some safe little Pokemon sparring, you're going to need to work together with your team sure but you're also going to need to pull weight as a combatant too.

-She takes a deep breath and tries not to mumble too much about 'that's how it works with the J-Team'-

Vanity Metro

Anthem: <Hah good luck! Eris, blast em!>

Eris: I keep telling you, I'm more a 'beat up' rather than a 'blast' kinda deal.

-Eris swings in for a High Jump Kick while Mimic bares it's teeth and bounce-charges in to Bite at the enemy. That might be it's only move-

<...but... want to... I want to pet you... let me pet you...>

Clara facepalms.

<Don’t blame me if you get shocked, mum.>

“PSE, or the Pokémon Speaking English organization, was actually co-founded by me, if you’re curious. I’d take you guys back to Unova and maybe show you around if you weren’t busy...”

Turffield Stadium, Kim vs. Milo, Pre-AFD

(While "46&2" continues to play, Elton's body begins to change. For starters, his entire body grows slightly bigger, to accommodate for the added height he will have as a Raboot. His ears flop down to the side, and a small tuft of hair grows from the top of his head... which then grows to a much larger size, fluffing up in an instant. At the same time, his head also grows slightly bigger, and the two tufts of fur that were on either side of his face shrink back inside his face and disappear. His arms and paws grow much thicker and much larger, his tail puffs out and becomes a lot more prominent, and his entire body rounds out a bit. Black and red fur begins to sprout everywhere on his body, covering his body, his legs and feet, his arms, and most prominently, about half of his face, creating a sort of "jacket" with a "balaclava" covering his mouth. Two tufts of fur emerge from either side of the "balaclava" collar, echoing the two tufts of fur that he had had on the side of his face as a Scorbunny. Finally, his legs and feet grow thicker and fuller. Within a split second of his feet forming, Elton kicks one of them into the air and jams a foot straight into the stunned as heck Eldegoss. Said foot glows a bright orange and proceeds to kick the massive Eldegoss to the other side of the stadium, slamming him into the wall.)

(Two massive explosions proceed to happen at the exact same time: the first comes from the Eldegoss, who suddenly explodes and shrinks back down to his normal size, having been brought down by the much more powerful Max Knuckle attack. The second, meanwhile, comes from Elton himself, as the blue light of evolution suddenly snaps off of his body, and Elton, now a fully-formed Raboot, lets out a scream towards the heavens:)

Elton: <GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH—!>

(Kim grins broadly upon seeing Elton, as do Dio, Ozzy, Kaylan, and Geddy.)

Dio: <That... is... AWESOME—!>

Kaylan: <You evolved into a Raboot!>

Elton: (happily) <I know! And it feels amazing!>

(His voice still sounds the exact same as when he was a Scorbunny. Kim, meanwhile, suddenly notices the fainted Eldegoss and smirks, looking towards Elton.)

Kim: "Oh, but does it feel as amazing as... that?"

(Elton suddenly pauses and turns towards the Eldegoss... who is now shrunken, on the floor of the stadium, with spirals in his eyes.)

(Seconds later, Elton glows red and shrinks back down to his regular size, before looking over at the Eldegoss in disbelief. It takes him a few moments to process what has just happened...)

Elton: (stunned) <We... we won?>

(...but once he does realize what has happened, his face lights up, and he jumps up and down happily.)

Elton: (happily) <YES! WE WON!>

(In delight, the rest of Kim's Pokemon crowd around Elton and proceed to glomp him. Kim, meanwhile, looks down at the Wishing Star in her hand and grins broadly— before turning to look over at Milo, who is returning his Eldegoss back to his PokeBall, now also back to its regular size. The Yamper, meanwhile, is so excited and so happy about the evolution and the win that he can't contain his excitement, and starts jumping up and down and running in circles behind them.)

Yamper: (happily) <YES>

Yamper: (happily) <SHE WON>

Yamper: (happily) <AM VERR HAPP>

Yamper: (happily) <YAY HOOMAN YOU ARE GOOD TRAINER>

KIM HAS BEATEN MILO'S ELDEGOSS

MILO HAS NO POKEMON LEFT

WINNER: KIMBERLY BOND
