Looked like there was a legit trope in there. Maybe re-tool it so that it's something closer to "watching a second time makes the film better to understand", or something along those lines.

Half-Life: Dual Nature, a crossover story of reasonably sized proportions.

I doubt that can be turned into an objective trope because the subject is an audience reaction: "When a movie, etc. that's not very impressive on first viewing seems to get better and better the more times you see it."

Changing the focus from enjoyment to understanding would not alter that.

Feels more like Trivia than YMMV to me. I'll go bring it up on the Trivia thread.

BTW, I'm a chick.

^This isn't like Funny Background Event or something where a viewer notices something new that he/she hadn't noticed before when watching a movie the first time around. This is about actual enjoyment of a work increasing after multiple viewings. That's not trivia.

No doubting that.

EDIT: Though I would be willing to suggest something like Even Better On Second Viewing as a clearer redirect because the name Rewatch Bonus, on the surface, does sound like it can be easily mistaken for something more like what I earlier described.

Oh, I had misunderstood the trope. Somehow I thought this was all the little hints and clues you notice after you know what the Big Reveal is that make it even more interesting the second time through, but it's broader than that.

well I think most of it is covered by Funny Background Event. But the aspect of rewatching the movie to understand it better would probably be good for a trope. My personal experience with Perfect Blue the shear amount of Mind Screw perfect example of that. (still YMMV though for most)

It could also incorporate Meaningful Background Events as well as the funny ones.

Then again, this Trope is a practical necessity for the above two, in so far as those two have little substantive meaning barring a later (or in some cases earlier) reveal.

Actually, Fridge Brilliance is the Trope I would say that this is related too; almost too closely. If it is independently Tropable, it is either a child or a sibling of FB.

EDIT: Found a better Trope to pothole.
