Ahh, console video games (or vidcons as I call them). the ultimate medium of expression, able to convey any emotion ranging from hatred to love, loyalty to fear, all in front of our eyes. Ah, and with lovingly crafted art, music, and the ability to control the action, vidcons are the ultimate combination of the high arts. While I tend to play the stoic, I will be the first to admit that vidcons haven driven me to cry, to scream and shout, to feel actual hate; such is the power of this force beyond our wildest reckoning. And here I am, before you, to temp your tongues with the taint of such a tantalizing topic.
And the Japanese, the true geniuses behind the world of video games. Pah, I throw my scorn upon such incompetents of the West who would mock the true art of the Japanese with 'games' such as Baldur's Gate and Madden. Perhaps it is that the West is not as intelligent as the East, but this is a matter for another day. Japan has given us such masterpieces as the Final Fantasy series, Star Ocean, Wild Arms, and of course, Arc the Lad. Yes, some of the finest vidcons in the world were created by Japanese. I come to you today to ask you in all earnesty, what is your favorite vidcon? I will reveal mine after the grand debate has illustriously begun, but not before the first poster falls victim to my plot of discussion.
In other words, this is a thread on an imaginary forum our avatars frequent. The topic can fluctuate, and its mostly just general discussion.
Me? Alhaitham and I just unravelled a secret "research" project attempting to turn the entirety of Sumeru into a hive mind. Very interesting idea, obviously unethical. Also, at the scale he was attempting, with his methods? Impossible. Alhaitham even so much as said that if Siraj wanted to make it work, letting people keep their humanity was too conservative... He immediately clarified that it was a bad idea regardless, though.
“You carry the aura of the stars, interesting...”Yikes. Please don't tell me that kind of thing is a regular occurrence.

I mean, people come up with crazy ideas like that a lot (the Akademiya scholars are not the most well put-together people), but they always get rejected. Not many people are stupid and/or insane enough to go through with it anyway.
“You carry the aura of the stars, interesting...”> the Akademiya scholars are not the most well put-together people
Oh goodie... are at least 60% of their ideas ethical?

I was sorting through my father's old papers and lab reports today. I've been getting some of his scientific work published in volumes, but I'm keeping the administrative stuff secret.
(x4&2)
Heh. That reminds me of something I found in father's notes today. He said madboys were like artists, in that they're unable to deal with certain parts of reality, so they try to make another reality more to their liking. OOC
Anyways, did you actually thwart the Akademiya's plans there? I hope you and your friend managed to stop them.

By the old Sages’ (the ones that attempted to replace their Archon) standards that we have yet to legally change? Yes. By normal ethics? Debatable at best.
It wasn’t the Akademiya as a whole. In fact, the project was rejected on the grounds of “tampering with human evolution” years ago. It was just one student who did it in the shadows anyway, and recruited others. We managed to stop it, though, yes.

“You carry the aura of the stars, interesting...”Well, I hope the sages get some sense beaten into them, if it hasn't happened already.
Completely unrelated, but who's down for some Deep Rock? I wanna play, but it tends to get boring alone.

Well, we fired 4/6 of them, i.e. the ones who were involved with the project to replace the Archon. The others... had been imprisoned. Alhaitham recently did a stint as Acting Grand Sage, because we needed someone to fill the role, but he resigned as soon as he could, because he's, ah, how do I put this... lackadaisical in his duties, and he figures he already has a cushy enough life.
“You carry the aura of the stars, interesting...”I once used to act as one then I decided to have children instead probably one of the best choices I took to relive stress. I can not imagine the appeal of a hivemind as someone who used to be one.
I look to the stars... but that's mostly because there isn't anything else interesting*pokes the next poster out of boredom*

Hm? Aether, what is this?
It’s a forum thread. Where you talk to people. You should try that sometime. Be nice or I’m inviting Kaveh. Everyone, this is Alhaitham. He’s the Akademiya’s scribe. I’ve mentioned him before. I worked with him in the plan to free Nahida.

A sound from the communication device surprises Zee Tee.
!?!?!? ...Oh, right. This thing. Apologies for the lack of response. I might be surrounded.
Hello, Scribe of Akademiya. I am Zee Tee.
(@1) I'm not sure I know who that is. But Princess Nehema is still in the castle, and I have to save her.
Azure Mines is a Roblox game from 2016. The goal is to mine for ores and upgrade your base.
Call me Alhaitham. The Akademiya likes to inflate their own egos with fancy titles, but I’m little more than a record-keeper.
“You carry the aura of the stars, interesting...”Princess Nehema looks pretty nice, good luck on the rescue!
Now I'm curious about that world of Eversion, looks nifty!
Meet the Tamas!◊ Can't let any of those suckers live!Hello, Alhaitham! I'm curious, since the scribe's job has been nearly made obsolete in my homeworld - what is it like to be a scribe?

Like I said earlier, it’s less interesting than it sounds. Self-aggrandizement is the Akademiya’s MO. Essentially desk work and recording meetings. It pays well, though, and I can usually work from home, so I’m happy with it.

“You carry the aura of the stars, interesting...”[1] Oops, my mistake. I was trying to figure out that princess you were talking about earlier.
Especially since Miraitchi was wondering asking about that.
Meet the Tamas!◊ Can't let any of those suckers live!Good to hear. I'm curious to see how the Akademiya will change in light of recent events... Also, I wanted to ask that earlier, but is it possible to visit a lecture without being a student? I know this is allowed at the university that I study at.

There's nothing technically stopping you. Although, it's likely more of a case of "that is such a socially unacceptable thing to do that nobody has ever tried, and it's not on the books because of that".

“You carry the aura of the stars, interesting...”...oh. That's a shame.

Eh. Not my problem.
Alhaitham. What did I say? Last warning.
“You carry the aura of the stars, interesting...”
Pleasure to meet you, Herr Alhaitham. I've heard of your good work in helping Aether here. Let me introduce myself: I am Prince Aaronev Tarvek Sturmvoraus, the Prince of Sturmhalten, Protector of Balan's Gap, and Defender of the East.
That mean's he's my advisor. The Fifty Families seem to share some vices with the Akademiya, or so it appears to me, first among them being the love of fancy titles.
Gilgamesh Wulfenbach. You can me Gil.

: Poyo! Poyo! (Of course! It's nice to see you now that you've joined too!)

Oh hey you two, I'm glad that you're here. There was a pissed-off Kirby with a knife that insulted me earlier.

I'd say that's not up to you to judge, Venti. 2500 years give or take, you're still fallible, and I'd rather trust Aether.
In other news, what's up? I'm struggling with Taylor polynomials, procrastinating, and boring myself to death.
