There are no examples, and the article is highly confusing. There's no discussion to indicate the examples were cut (or any reason why they should have been) - why does this exist, and for what possible reason is it a character trope?

I think it would be a good idea to send the trope to YKTTW because the main trope does not have any examples on its page. I do not have expertise here though so I guess there is a possibility that we could just work on it here.

From what I can tell, the trope is about looking (and possibly being) dark or evil without actually going into the creepy, disgusting, or the like. At least, that is the impression I received from the links on the related to part. Your Mileage May Vary here, but I actually think it is a legitimate trope (that I believe often appears in media that might not be able to have really dark villains) that just needs some work.

There's no link to a YKTTW. This could mean that the link was lost somehow, that it went through but wasn't launched using the launcher, or most likely, that it never came near YKTTW in the first place. It at least needs a trip through for example gathering, but I think it needs a fair bit of description work as well — what does "Fashionable" have to do with "Not quite evil. Or at least, not enough for the audience to worry too much. The essence of this prop is evil in a camp sort of way, often bordering on 'dark' but safe fetishism"

I think I see the trope here, but yes, it needs a trip through YKTTW to get itself some examples.

I think there's a trope there, too, but I'm not seeing why it's Fashionable Evil.

This is true. I'm not sure on that either. Perhaps because it's move evil in style than evil in deed?

I'm wondering if it was intended as a snowclone-ish on Affably Evil... Whatever the reason, the name needs help.

Actually, on further reflection I think I, too, see what the trope is supposed to be.

Fashionable Evil may be a reference to the looks and trappings of evil being, well, fashionable - in other words, Evil Is Cool, except that in this case it's not actually evil.

I made an index a while ago for Villainous Fashion Sense. That might already cover this.

^ Not if this

"Not quite evil. Or at least, not enough for the audience to worry too much. The essence of this prop is evil in a camp sort of way, often bordering on 'dark' but safe...
is really the definition.

If so, that name does not help it at all, and the description needs work. I say cut and send to ykttw.

Dark Is Cool sounds like a good name for the YKTTW. As it is, this thing needs to go.

Yeah, it's not quite Evil Is Cool, as that tends to be darker evil. This seems more "dark antihero" type rather than straight up evil.

Fight smart, not fair.
