Well, I did ask what kind of people girl look up to and nobody has really answered that one yet. And it's mostly the younger demographic. Also lesbians.

Help?.. please...

they are women, and they will be writing what personally appeals to them.
I'm writing a story of romance and explosions with a male main character (whichever one he is...) and a setting governed by the power of beam spam and nonsense dream sequences. At least two women are following it, too.

So, girls can like pretty much whatever each one likes, in my experience. Not that I'm the purest example of my sex, though.

And those I look up to are pretty much all visual artists...except none among them seem to be female...um bye thread I'm not sure I belong here

"We like to see a lack of sexism (minus the in-universe examples). We will love you for that."

What Mr. AHR said.

But what I like to see in a book is a list of ingredients, because that's the only kind of book that belongs in the kitchen.

Wait, so what if there are certain scenes in my story that alone are sexist to one gender and other scenes sexist to the other gender individually? Would that still be bad?

Help?.. please...

One thing I really like is when you take an Always Male character type and write a female version of it.

If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.

Don't listen to any of these guys, just shoehorn in some rainbows and unicorns.

No, I don't know if this is a general female thing (I'm leaning towards 'no') but personally I'm a sucker for characters. I'll read any amount of crap if there's even one character that I really like.

[up][up] Badass Mustache?

Joking joking [lol]. Maybe for an un-serious comedy work.

[up][up] Since posting in this thread, I discovered this thread in the Literature forum, which does seem to support the idea that women have a predilection towards character-based writing. I thought the article linked to by Imipolex was very relevant to this discussion. At any rate, having characters with some depth and appeal is never a bad thing.
