Does anyone else still play this game? its still pretty popular overseas I hear, despite how long it's been out. private servers seem to still get updates (although some of them decide to stay left behind...)

I used to play it a ton until i started troping.

Still fairly popular where I live.

We used to have a thread on it until it was archived or something.

INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit. WIS is knowing it doesn't belong in a fruit salad. CHA is convincing people that it does.

I started playing again at a private server called Lumina RO. there were ads for it all over Ratemyserver.net, so I though I'd try it out again.

The Main Website.

Ratemyserver Page.

would anyone be interested in picking this game up again?

[up] Hmm... I never played the original game though. I may pick this up. Seeing that this server has around 600 players is a good sign. Though it depends. What class should I start with? I am really aiming towards being a melee DP Ser though.

a good starter class that can DPS? well there are three good options for that.

Lord Knight: with good HP and decent melee speed, this class is the mario of the game. can be both a Glass Cannon and a Mighty Glacier depending on build.

Whitesmith: Their offense costs money to use, but in return they deal the most damage at melee range in the game. a little less HP than a Lord Knight but just as tough. they also are a great starter class because they get good deals buying and selling items.

Assasin Cross: can use stealth to get close to the enemy, and sonic blow to deal absurd amounds of damage. Low HP, but extremely high flee rate.

I think I'll be either a Lord Knight or a Whitesmith. More likely the former.

What server of Lumina should I start my quest on? Which one did you pick?

EDIT: Leaning towards Mid-Rate due to most people being clustered there. At the time of this writing, 562 people in mid-rate and 78 in high-rate.

Ahh. What base level and class level are you at? Also is there a guide to building Lord Knights? I've heard that in this game, it's really easy to screw up your character permanently.

BTW, how hard was the Lumina client to set up?

its not too bad. they give each character a reset ticket when you start. if you screw up somewhere, or want to try out a different build, a reset ticket will unbind your stat and skill points.

it's fairly easy to get more reset tickets too.

Um, I think it's the wrong place to ask, but...

Someone, anyone, please update the Gaiden Game trope on RO's page with Ragnarok DS (for DS) and Ragnarok : Imperial Princess of Light and Darkness (for PSP).

Okay, I played this game on my country's official server (idRO) since 6 years ago. My main activities on the game are making friends and chatting. So, my characters are horribly underlevelled.

But! Starting on last month, I started again on idRO's newest server Rebirth. It was fun, and one of my chars already become a Dancer.

Oh! Anyone know that Loki from Ragnarok manhwa finally appeared on Episode 14.1 Bifrost? And then there's Biolabs 4F with 2-2 Trans classes? And Byalan finally gets an MVP? And second classes for Ninja called Kagerou and Oboro? And RO actually has a main story with decent plot?

Also, when you get your Knight to 99 you Restart At Level One as a future Lord Knight - it resets your stats too.

In RO, the fully minmaxed character are designed with high precision, aimed for a very specific and very expensive gear set. But when just starting you can pretty much level whatever the way you like, stat derivations will only slightly impact your leveling speed. Using the reset on a non-advance character is a waste.

As an anime-like, weird fantasy chat room with monsters to kill, I enjoyed RO. As a game it was horrible, at least when I played it six years ago. I was on a private server with triple XP and playing an archer, "cheating" by grinding much higher level, immobile treants who took forever to kill but couldn't fight back. I grinded, grinded, and grinded for hours. My reward was making a dancer...and then learning that my new class and my old skills were incompatible for some reason.

But I had more fun hanging out, talking with people, and smacking monsters around in legit RO and pirate RO then I ever really had with WOW players.

^I concur. In RO guild's voice room, there always were somebody just hanging around. In WOW they only get used for when there is a direct need for talking to take down a boss, but otherwise it is silent and empty.
But as a pure game RO is a hell of a boring grind. Though I guess the hanging out aspect counters that.

^^wait, did you use whips? Dancers still can use Archer's skills as long as they equipping bows and arrows.

And please don't laugh on my EPIC FAIL at mistaking Katinshuell with Kiel Hyre.

Lumina RO has fifty times the normal rate of experience... rather than just three times. I can reach maximum level in a day flat. (not including trans, but you get my point)

I have a HELL of a lot of fun doing more damage per second as a star gladiator than most other DPS characters can muster.

lumina has a card remover, and a market search function. it's @whosell itemname.

Yesterday I was in a party with a certain guildmaster named Tsumomo. She's pretty influential in the server and has lots of connections :3

anyways, I amazed even her at ice dungeon! I was dealing 11k-24k damage flying side kicks! I could have done even more with miracle, but I didnt have it. here is what I was using:

No Weapon, Awakening Potion, Warm Wind, Sprint Surge, Comfort of the Sun / Moon / Stars, Kihop (full party), Break fall, Flying side kick.

Anyways, she invited me to her guild! :D I was super happy!

I think it's SOP to play a Sniper for your first character on a private server, for farming purposes.

^ What's the level cap of that server? Star Gladiators doing that kind of damage isn't really special with full Kihop and Warmth. No offense, btw.

I think LKs recently gained ultrafarmer status too.

Though it could be just on the server I played (LumiRO, a russian one). Autobuy there certainly eased farming too.
