I pre-ordered on Steam but am unsure if I shouldn't get in on the Switch instead because I will soon be on a business trip and it would be excellent to play in the hotel.

Amusing anecdote here...

I had money reserved for Vesperia, since I loved the crap out of it when I played the PS 3 version at my sorcerer-of-dark-arts friend's. Then suddenly I was gifted Berseria out of nowhere! But I don't even have the appropiate console! ('I heard you like these *points at box* It's not like you don't get the consoles eventually, dont' ya?') He got me there... I bought Ocarina BEFORE the N64 and Smash Melee before a NGC. Because they fly off shelves, is usually the reason.

I solved the matter by taking advantage of the PS 4 Christmas special deal at the GAME Brand: got the 500 gigs Slim for 200 bucks. Now I don't have the money for a Switch, but I am pretty sure I will acrue enough for Vesperia on release date. ('But if you get a PS 4 you can play it there'.) NEVER. The Switch version needs all the support it can get! We need to show Namco that Nintendrones ALSO buy its games aside from Marios, Mario Karts, Zeldas, Mario Party, Pokemon, Mario Tennis, Zelda multiplayer, Pokemon remakes, Mario rpgs, Zelda musou... well, you get the point.

As a final note... coming back to check my old posts for Vesperia tips I found this, quoting my old self: Symphonia was Nintendo's bitch for 10 years, so Vesperia will be Microsoft's until 2018

Alright, I think we get it.

ANYWAY yeah I'm hoping to get a PS 4 by like late this month or early February or so. Might get Vesperia (and Berseria) there if nothing else. If my ancient lappy can't handle Vesperia then at least my future PS 4 can.

not before I get the Megaman X collection, Dragonball Fighter Z and probably Gundam Versus tho

Does anyone know about the stock situation for Vesperia for Switch?

I was wondering, since I'd noticed recently it's very very difficult to get a copy of the remake for Radiant Historia not that long after it came out.

And in my experience games which only are released at major game stores tend to be harder to find after a while.

I'm planning on asking at my local EB Games on the way home either way.

I just ask because I've got a few games lined up for the next month I'm behind on to play first.

...wait, what do you mean "only released at major game stores?" Don't tell me it's a freaking Gamestop exclusive or something.

Interesting. I recall it was hard to find the original DS copy of Radiant Historia when it first came out as well.

It may just be an Australian thing, but with smaller games / jrpgs, sometimes only game/electronic stores get copies, and sometimes only preorders + 3-4. And not bigger retailers.

Oh, it's an Australian thing? Thanks for explaining. I hear a lot of complaining about how games are sold and distributed there, so that makes sense.

I've definitely heard of cases in general where a game is popular enough to be in high demand, but not popular enough to be well-stocked, and that can definitely be frustrating. I guess you could always go digital if you can't find a physical copy - not sure what your preferences are with that, but it is a possibility.

[up]It's not so bad anymore, at least for the past 4-5 years.

Online shopping, plus retailers like Big W and Target have driven prices from 80-100 for new games down to 60-70.

It used to be just awful when the AUD was 1.1 to the USD, and we were still paying such terrible prices.

Now it's great, since the AUD is around 0.7-0.75 and the prices haven't gone back up much for physical titles.

It would be nice though if we had more dedicated gaming stores though. EB Games plus one or two very very minor independent stores is pretty much it.

I checked, and apparently my local store doesn't find out how many copies until the morning it comes out. :/

I'll probably just wait a day or two to ensure they did a decent job with the port before grabbing it.

Just in case it pulls a Radiant Historia and vanishes from the shelves after a month...

Sometimes you get lucky when games are niche enough to fly under the radar. I found two Day 1 copies of Ys VIII at a JB-Hi Fi once. Not sure what the Vesperia situation will be like, especially when Tales is more well known than Ys.

I remember snagging a Day One copy of Graces from CEX for fairly cheap and it still had the artbook and DLC costume codes working so...

Not that I like double posting but Vesperia DE is out now on all current platforms including Steam. As a neat thank you present you get two sets of free DLC, one with early level ups and gear and the other with the PS 3 exclusive costumes. So I was able to put Yuri in the Creed spaceman outfit right from the start and level him up to 45 giving him a shitton of moves pretty quickly.

...this means the good Judy shit early don't it

Is Vesperia better on PC or Switch? Some of the previous PC ports have been duds, but Berseria was definitely good, so I'm on the fence.

Vesperia’s been running mostly smoothly on PC for me. I did encounter a weird slowdown bug in Zaphias’s town square which also slowed down the music, but when I returned to that area later, it ran smoothly.

Heads up for Switch owners: to get the costume and Adventure pack DLC you need to look it up in the eshop.

Picked up Vesperia today and it's really awkward to play on Switch. The game itself is fine but the controls are weird. I think I'll get the PS 4 version instead

Can't you rebind controls on the Switch?

This isn't good. I never played the Xbox version or imported the PS 4 version, so now I'm wondering if this problem with awkward controls is a thing for everyone, or just for people who were familiar with the older controls.

I see. that's...a new problem. If its just the joycon stick you could probably replace it or get it fixed.
