Um, well.. I really appreciate you putting in the effort, really I do, but I was hoping for footage of the Shadow Pirate with its cloak active. Now, this guy is a Shadow Pirate, but he, (likely so you can get a good scan of him,) does not appear to have his cloak activated. He's probably the only one in the game like this. All the other Shadow Pirates have their cloaks on, and you see lots of them, but most of them are in dark rooms, making it hard to see them without the thermal visor. There is however, a well lit room as you leave the labs after you get the thermal visor that fills with Shadow Pirates where you can see them clearly, with their cloaks on, with the normal visor. I was hoping to get a good look at the effect, which I recall makes them look translucent. Maybe I could have been clearer when I made the request. It's not a big deal, and again, I thank you for actually taking the time to listen. I hope the playthrough attracts lots of views.

Oh, sorry about that! I can't recall whether I had the visor active at that moment.

At first I thought he had his cloak off, but he seems to turn his cloak on and off several times in that clip. I remember the cloak being on all the time, but I seem to have been mistaken. It seems like he has to deactivate the cloak to attack. Interesting. Was this footage taken in the Phazon Mines?

Yep, the Phazon Mines. In the first area after the save point.

Thanks! I've already died twice, for the first time in the LP. I forgot what a slog Phazon Mines is.

Subsequent playthroughs aren't that bad (unless on Hypermode), but I'll admit the first time going through Phazon Mines, it certainly is a hassle.

I'm not playing blind.

My memories are a bit fuzzy, but I know roughly where I'm going. TBH, it's the spiderball track that got me (I forgot how those rings work and wound up in the next section with a few fewer health tanks than I'd have liked).

SIDENOTE: It's pretty clear what happened from a design perspective. There's about as many rooms as in other areas, but each room has a lot of platforms and corridors, so they take longer to work your way through. My guess is that a level designer decided to just make it take a little longer than previous areas by spreading the save point out a bit more, but didn't realise that.

Watching the Speed Gaming races of Metroid Prime Randomizer makes me realize how many funky object collision details Retro left in the original release of Metroid Prime :V Most of the good stuff got patched out in the later releases though.

I made it to the save station in yesterday's stream, so my fuzzy memories are sharper.

Speaking of minibosses in the Phazon Mines, has anybody else ever noticed that the Elite Pirate fought in Dynamo Access is actually a second Phazon Elite reskinned to look like a regular Elite Pirate?

Recently, some people have found original samples used in Super Mario World and are now uploading them in an uncompressed format. Well, the one of those guys also posted this HD version of the statue chamber from Super Metroid. Another guy has a handful of HD songs here. More tracks are likely to come soon. I love Mario World, but I am way more psyched about about an HD version of the Super Metroid soundtrack.

That Statue song sounds so much like the Shadow Temple from Ocarina of Time. I'm sure they share samples. The chanting specifically.

Former Retro Studios dev and senior designer on all of the Metroid Prime games and DKC Returns says a Prime Trilogy HD would be a herculean effort, especially with translating Prime 3's motion controls to regular controls.

This is one person's opinion, so take it however you want.

Except... the Switch already has motion controls.

I believe he's talking about playing Corruption in docked mode.

The GC games with motion controls are highly enjoyable, but Corruption suffers from tacked on hand movements, like many of the Wii games that are actual games and not gorified waggling sims.

Man, I can't imagine going back to Prime 1+2's button controls. Prime 3's pointer was so perfect and it made 1 and 2 better retroactively.

I mean, Super Mario Galaxy managed to get ported/emulated. So it's not impossible. Just a lot of work...

3's overall control scheme was a lot better, but the fine motor control puzzles (like having to rotate and pull) were a pain. I doubt much would be lost if they were Dummied Out and replaced with a button press.
