Fusion Samus also had an amazing beam along with her default super freezing missiles. She was essentially a Glass Cannon.

Right, where the initial Charge Beam upgrade actually made the beam consist of two projectiles, and it emitted a small energy wave in front of the cannon when you shot a fully charged shot, so you could inflict more damage if you took the risk and stand closer to your enemy.

A long, long time ago, my family first got a decent internet service that allowed us to be on the internet without dial-up, which was both slow, and tied up the phone lines. One of the first things I did was search for Metroid related content. I ended up finding a site called Planet Zebeth, which is a sprite comic that used Metroid 1 sprites. I followed it for years, but eventually lost interest. I looked at the site the other day and found that the comic finished back in May. Zebeth put out 1300 comics from 2002 to 2019. That's 17 years. It was because of Zebeth that I found other comics like Penny Arcade, VGCats, Irregular Webcomic, 8-Bit Theatre and Captain SNES. I'm going to make plans to read the whole thing start to finish. That place is very nostalgic for me. It was really the first site I came across on the internet that I came back to regularly.

Technically Samus as a Metroid is still at the larval stage, so her armor's jelly shell is still weak, lol. Wait until she gets her Alpha/Gamma/Zeta/Omega armor upgrades, she'll become hilariously tough.

If the Metroid game set after Fusion doesn't have Samus developing more metroid related powers I will consider it a massive missed opportunity.

Oh my gosh armor suits based on Metroids throughout history would be badass.

Samus's powersuit has undergone METAMORPHOSIS! As a result of her Metroid genetic infusion being fully integrated by her Chozo-gifted genetic augmentations, her suit will now transform according to the natural life cycle of a Metroid!

Samus has developed the ALPHA SUIT! Her powersuit has now regenerated a basic layer of hard plating that improves her defenses, and limited amounts of antigravity will now allow her to make floatier flutter jumps.

Samus has grown into her GAMMA SUIT! Her Powersuit has become even more durable, and she has developed increased resistance to electrical damage!

Samus has managed to evolve the ZETA SUIT! Her powersuit is now even tougher than before, and the claws she uses for her Power Grip have grown and become more effective at helping her scale slippery walls, where she once could not gain purchase!

Samus has acquired the OMEGA SUIT! Her powersuit's armor is now truly peerless! Her claws are now sharper and now usable in melee combat, making her counterattack strikes do actual damage to enemies and rendering her capable of parrying powerful strikes that would have previously overpowered her!

Samus has proven her superiority over other Metroids and gained the ROYAL SUIT! Her arm cannon has grown stronger, and developed energy nuclei that lets her store a charge! Now she can activate HYPER MODE at will as long as she has stored power.

As a New Game+ bonus, you can also get the Prime Suit, which makes you float around like Dark Samus and reskins some of the basic abilities to be grotesque mutations.

That would actually be hilarious, the PRIME SUIT would also replace your HYPER MODE weapon with the Phazon Beam, and maybe you even have Prime's fluctuating defense screen that randomizes your elemental weakness every time you take a hit.

Also Metroid Evolution's ending is basically Samus waking up with a hangover inside some police station's drunk tank, and she muses to herself wryly "The last Metroid is in captivity, the galaxy is at peace".

Would it give any indication of your new weaknesses?

Yeah, you'd have Tron Lines that change colour to betray your new weakness based on the colour of your beam weapons.

Smash Bros makes for fine looking scenes I swear.◊

Zero mission and its annoying amount of shinespark puzzles 'YOU KNOW THE ONE'

makes me yearn for a hunter mode for getting a hundred percent where Samus for once doesn't leave all her upgrades from the previous adventure on the ship which lets you tear through the game at full power right from the start.

Shinespark puzzles are my least favorite thing

Aside from being annoyingly fiddly I feel like it tears off the artifice too much

it doesn't help that the Speed Booster is probably my least favorite of Samus' Power Ups, so you can probably imagine how happy I was when Samus Returns went with a timeslowing ability instead. Mainly because that one's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY easier to control.

Hilariously I don't find Fusions that hard or even Am2r's that hard

Zero mission just has WAY to many

Fusion's most annoying puzzle is not a Shinespark puzzle but an Ice Missiles, Shredders, and Morph Ball puzzle.

In the manual to both the original Metroid and to Zero Mission, Samus is described as being the greatest space hunter, that's why they sent her to Zebes. So, if Samus was regarded as the best of the best before her mission to Zebes, then what exactly did she do that made everyone say she was the best?

Wasn't Metroid: Other M set before Zero Mission?

Other M was set after Super and before Fusion but had flashbacks pre Zero Mission, mostly where Samus failed at everything because she dared not agree with Adam and his stoicism
