Fast Eddie removed it for some reason.
The thing is, the main page for Troper Tales still mentions an index for them, indicating that one should be there. If he wanted to remove Troper Tales, why not remove the main page for it as well?
Didn't get round to it I guess.
The list was probably getting too long. This, Quotes Wiki and Laconic Wiki has thousands upon thousands of entries. Nobody is using a list that size, while a list that size is probably crashing the page.
^What he said. If you come across some text referring to the Troper Tales page as an index, just zap it.
Troper Tales are not going away.

Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyCould you or another mod remove the bit at the bottom of the page about Auto-Indexing then? It's just confusing as it is, but the pages are locked so I can't.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dickwhy was the index removed, and is there anywhere I can find an index if I want to look it up?

Those edits were made.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyThe Quotes Wiki and the Laconic Wiki still have their mentions of being auto-indexed with no list.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickSo the massive size of the index is the reason the index was removed? That makes sense.
How about making sub-indexes for Troper Tales of certain types?
Also, the Laconic Wiki page links to a now-deleted forum thread. Might wanna zap that if you're editing the page.
Heapers’ HangoutSay, since the auto-indexing thing already sorts pages alphabetically, would it be possible to code it to split the list into parts based on the first letter of the pages indexed? I'd imagine it wouldn't be of the highest priority, but is it feasible? It'd sure be a lot easier to navigate than going through it page by page....
The list was deleted because it was too long? That's not a reason!
Why not just get rid of the multiple entries on the list? There was about 10 pages of Heartwarming Moments listed while Crowning Moment of Heartwarming was still sorted under "C". Some tropes that have an apostrophe in their title were listed again without the apostrophe.
Also since the whole list was done alphabetically, why not sort each letter into a folder? That way you don't have to scroll down half the page to find the one your looking for.
I'm not Superman, not Batman, or Spiderman, or Aquaman, or a merman, or a wolfman. I'm not a brahman, or common, or a calman. It is a good reason if the size of the article was causing the page to crash. Foldering it up wouldn't solve the problem.
I recall when Index-Index was taken down, tropers started to use this other list where the indices were on different pages, one for each alphabet+namespace. I can't remember where it is but it's maybe an appropriate format. However that would still need to be actively implemented and we have priorities. We actually used that list to help fix mis-namespacing problems. We're still not going to actually use the page index for the troper tales pages.
This sort of indexing does make things hard for those of us who, for whatever reason, are trying to go through as many entries as we can in alphabetical order. (It's a more fun way of killing time than reading the dictionary, at least.) Right now I'm trying to go through Quotes Wiki. Boring Failure Hero is broken, but it's still on the index, so I can't go from Boring, but Practical to whatever comes next. There are bound to be other breakages in the future.

That's Feo . . . He's a disgusting, mysoginistic, paedophilic asshat who moonlights as a shitty writer—Something Awfulnow that the index has been deleted, is there any alternate ways of finding a list of all or most of troper tales?
He who fights bronies should see to itthat he himself does not become a brony. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, Pinkie Pie gazes AlsoPLEASE FIX IT WE LIKE THE INDEX
Yes please, or I'll start an IBBM thread!
I'd like it if the index could be returned to something similar to its original form as well. I don't think anyone's given a reason why it couldn't be split into multiple pages by the first letter of the page names, similar to what's been done to the other oversized indices/pages.
Yes, please restore the index, even if we need to make A-M, N-Z or whatever.
Those indexes are back.
Goal: Clear, Concise and Witty[*looks*] Meh, close enough. Although it might be more convinant to have two or three alphabetized indexes, because the current list looks a little bit messy.
Well that'll work. Thanks!
I checked it out a couple days ago, and the index was gone, while a message said that autoindexing works. But where's the index? Is it a temporary glitch?
