If I had to make an honest guess, if Sora does get into the game, we'll see a cameo or two from the "main" Disney related characters (the Castle Trio and maybe Yen Sid), considering how Disney is a big aspect of Kingdom Hearts. But really, who knows at this point?

Sora will make vague allusions to an old sorcerer and his dear old animal buddies, but none of them will show up due to copyright shannigans.

Modern Disney will seemingly do anything for cash.

I've seen that brought up here or there, but I don't know if it's an actual meme or anything like that. I think it's mostly been a joke, honestly?

Not really. They'll do anything with their own IP, but they're still really stingy when it comes to letting other parties use it. Disney is big on image control.

Considering how stingy Disney is when it comes to allowing others to use the mouse, even within their own properties (examples: Ducktales 2017, and even the original Kingdom Hearts itself, when Square was only allowed to use Mickey once), I seriously doubt they would force Sakurai to include him if he doesn't want him in.

Disney has trusted their IP's on Nintendo consoles in the past, including just recently that Kingdom Hearts rhythm game, so I don't see why it can't trust Sakurai and his team to make Sora work really well.

Yeah, they'd probably want some oversight on their portrayal, but I don't think they'd be 100% never going to allow it.

Disney won't allow Mickey to cameo on any shows except those where Mickey is the star.

At best, the only KH characters who'll show up will be those made for the game itself

That really pisses me off, especially since for Ducktales season 3, they're bringing EVERYONE involved in the Mickey verse to some extent BUT him!

The thing about Disney is that they likely wouldn't want Mickey to be associated with a game where characters beat up other characters, even one as cartoonish as Smash.

Disney abhors crossovers.

Truth be told, if Disney allowed for Mickey, Donald, and/or Goofy to appear in Super Smash Bros. alongside Sora, I was personally just expecting them to at most just cameo as part of a cinematic Final Smash ala Dunban, Riki, and Fiora with Shulk or the non-playable DQ heroes with the playable DQ heroes.

I think it's more that Disney doesn't like not having total control of their image. Disney does allow various developers to use their IP, but those games almost always have Disney IPs in isolation.

Kingdom Hearts is a big honking exception, of course, so who's to say how exactly they'd handle KH crossing over into Smash? I find it difficult to imagine the process wouldn't be aggravating for all parties involved, though.

I'm not sure if the violence would be the issue-Mickey's been in violent enough media and video games before. Though, I don't think they'd love letting another company handle their IP.

I think they aren't going to let Nintendo have their biggest character be handled by anyone else if they're only doing a small cooperation on their part. With KH it's a teamwork with heavy Disney influence, but Smash Bros is a paid DLC and therefore an extension

Hence why at best we'll get the Original Generation characters in any way in Smash.
