While it defies Sakurai's statement that there won't be too many newcomers this time, here's my unrealistic and bloated roster, both the base version◊ and with DLC added◊.

Red border means Echo Fighter, green means DLC, yellow means DLC Echo Fighter.

Actually, he said he's hoping we don't expect too many fighters...and even so, there's something much more to notice in what he says.

I'd be in for playable Shantae, who does have a long history on Nintendo.

But I guess I'll settle for a trophy or an assist. Give me something, Daddy Sakurai.

The select screen in this game is based on the order the fighters entered in the series, not their home games.

You'd think the less likely characters would cost more points to get in Smash and the more likely characters would cost fewer points.

@MileRun: That's pretty much why I feel that they didn't go far enough with changing up Link to best reflect Breath of the Wild. I'd made a post a few months back with a concept of how things like the breakable/swappable/throwable weapon system, the Sheikah Slate runes and the Champions' abilities could be incorporated to shake him up, while the Young and Toon Links could retain his original playstyle.

The majority of those characters aren't even on my want list. I just want those who clamor for them to get their favorite character being in Ultimate.

Those first 3 were the ones I want the most (and thus an easy pick) and I was gonna pick the Dancing Lobster for lols until I noticed Ayumi there. I played the Super Famicom remake of her second game and I had a enjoyable time with it. She's been my long shot choice for Smash ever since then. Doesn't hurt that she was considered (although very briefly) for Melee at one point.

I have it bookmarked. Maybe it's self-aggrandising, but I like to think that my ideas aren't terrible.

It has some strange options there, though. Eevee for 3? Decidueye for more than Incineroar (shouldn't they be on level pegging in terms of a Gen 8 Mon?)?

So guys...not sure if you remember well enough, but let me say this:

If you watched the timeline of recorded Smash reveals in the past like this one(https://www.inverse.com/article/47668-smash-bros-ultimate-roster-additions-could-arrive-soon), and if you follow the Brawl pattern pre-delay, you'll notice that 8th of August reveals was 7 days after Ike's reveal on August 1st of 2007. If the pattern of 7 days added after the original number is followed, then there may be something revealed today...Pokemon Trainer was revealed on the 13th of August of 2007 as well...and today's the 20th, which is 7 numbers after 13. There are also huge reports coming up of a surprise direct coming day, supposedly related to Directs, meaning that something Indie is also coming to Smash as well? Not to mention, tomorrow's Gamescom, who's to say there may be a reveal before that day?

Case dismissed. Bring in 15 dancing lobsters.

I feel like the lack of change is that Link,Zelda amd Ganondorf represent all eras of the Zelda games,hence the lack of change

No, I do think it's legit. I'm just not sure if I really want another alt Link even with my selective obliviousness being a thing.

And I think I’ll leave it there. The fourth tier doesn’t interest me all that much, and choosing from the fifth is how they get you to waste all your points in these things. I wouldn’t be against Isaac, Banjo, or Sora, but I’m not into them enough to remove anyone from my list here.

I guess I’ll use my two extra points to turn the Wonderful 101 into Ultimate’s fighting team.

This one of my greatest achievement yet!

They could make All-Star Mode a match against 6-7 fighters at once (depends on if co-op is possible or not).

But regardless I wouldn't want them to get rid of All-Star Mode, it's a neat way to both establish that all the characters have been obtained and to go through a tour with all of them.

The numerical order they were added to Smash for this game.

Would you want All-Star mode to order the characters via origin year or Smash addition? Seeing how the trailers are numbering the characters based on when they were added to Smash and this is how the CSS and Stage SS are arranged, I'm guessing that is how All-Star will be set this time.

I actually preferred it when the order was completely random. Now that the characters have numbers, though, I do expect them to go either in that order or in the reverse of that order.
