Actually, on further reading, it makes me wonder if this is even a TROPE.
The point is supposed to be that digital pirating is not how the industry wants us to think it is. If it comes across as how you described, fix it.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.^^It's about how something is portrayed in media, of course it is.
It seems to be the "portrayal of Digital Piracy in media" catch-all trope. It is -officially- a You Can Panic Now > New Media Are Evil subtrope but I think the opposing portrayals (since they make the exception rather than the rule) are interesting enough to be kept there, especially as this is on eviewpoint that is changing massively as we speak.
The only thing that needs to be done is what @amitraday said: remove all comments that seems as if we were promoting Totally Legal Means too much.

Removed the chunk about video game anti-piracy measures, it doesn't relate at all to how pirates are depicted in media and is the main source of the unneeded bias mentioned.
The Music section is pretty biased. It's obviously trying to say that all musicians are totally in favor of digital piracy, except for a few hypocrites.
Digital Piracy Is Evil should be about the portrayal of Digital Piracy as evil, particularly the part about it being a sin on par with eating babies. It should not be about "All these celebrities aren't against it!" or "Piracy is the future!" or anything like that.
BTW, I'm a chick.True, the music section should be about songs that depict digital pirates as evil, or parody the depiction. Saying that this person who happens to be a music star is against/in favor of digital piracy would be Real Life, not Music.
Also, why is this listed on Did Not Do The Research?
Well that was like playing a game of Whack-A-Mole where "mole" is defined as "Cthulhu". -Count DorkuI see misuse of the trope in seeing it listed as an example of New Media Are Evil, when it is obviously more along the lines of "this particular way of using new media is evil"; calling that an example of New Media Are Evil is a bit of a strawman. o.o

Let's delete the "examples" that are just noting a particular creator's opinion on piracy, and just include the examples of piracy being shown as evil in a work. That would eliminate 95% of the bias right there and bring this trope back to what it's supposed to be. Anyone agree with me?
Well that was like playing a game of Whack-A-Mole where "mole" is defined as "Cthulhu". -Count Dorkugo for it
I've been trying to clean up the examples. I got through Music. If anyone wants to help, that would be great, as I won't have much time for some time. Also, I just had my TV Tropes moment: I realized that I spent 1hr+ cleaning up a page. I have no life.
Well that was like playing a game of Whack-A-Mole where "mole" is defined as "Cthulhu". -Count DorkuNah Chimaera, all it means is that you have a hobby. Hobbies are good. :-)
looks like someone named Steve MB locked the page before I could finish the cleanup. I'm really too new to understand why. Could somebody explain?
Well that was like playing a game of Whack-A-Mole where "mole" is defined as "Cthulhu". -Count DorkuWhen you click "edit page", you get exclusive rights to it for 20 minutes or until you (a) cancel, (b) save changes, (c) edit another page. This is called "checking out" and is built into the system to prevent people from stomping on each other's edits. The page isn't locked, it's checked out until the other troper finishes or 20 minutes, whichever comes first.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Ok, thanks for the info.
Well that was like playing a game of Whack-A-Mole where "mole" is defined as "Cthulhu". -Count DorkuI think I cleaned up all the bias. Others should look over my work, but this discussion can be closed methinks.
Well that was like playing a game of Whack-A-Mole where "mole" is defined as "Cthulhu". -Count DorkuNot bad at all. It's certainly a lot more neutral. I'll set a timer on the topic in case anyone has more comments.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Nice job there.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!
This is an article filled with one-sided opinions that anyone who doesn't agree that pirating is wonderful is backward. I did my best to clean up the main article, but the examples area is filled with barely contained loathing and I can't really handle it all on my own. This wiki is supposed to be non-biased, which this has failed miserably at. Not to mention that a lot of the examples seem... questionable at best.
