War Master 3: Rage of the Time Lords just got released by Big Finish

Jacobi is effective as always, and its telling that each additional appearance of the War Master makes Yana's transformation into the Time Lord even creepier given the various monstrous acts the latter's shown to engage in circa the Time War.

Not unless something interesting can be done with them. I'm a bit more lax with the EU material, but generally speaking the show should be doing things it hasn't done before, whether that be a genuinely new idea for DW or a fresh take on an old concept. So unless someone can think of something new to do with the Sontarons, it's probably best to just keep them in mothballs until they do.

It actually occurs to me that we've had Daleks vs Cybermen, but not Sontarans vs either of those two sides,it's the sort big budget battle sequence I'd love to see, granted that Sontarans would probably get roflstomped pretty badly

Or even Sontarans vs their own archenemy. The Rutans have only every appeared in the show once.

Showing what the Sontaran/Rutan war actually looks like would be a good start.

...come to think of it, wouldn't an army of clones be a really stupid way to fight a race of shape shifters? It'd make infiltration way easier.

Not Three Laws compliant.

Unless there's some specific difference that appears in the shapeshifted form, in which case otherwise identical clones becomes a strong defense.

It's pretty good. Not great, but good, better than the finale

That's good. I really would like to see the 13th Doctor have more darker moments next season. I want her to get angry. Am I the only one?

Nah not the only one, it's frustrating how pacifistic she is.

[up][up][up]I actually thought the finale was pretty decent. Whereas Resolution was just kind of okay at best.

Yeah, I agree. While I do like the child-like wonder she bring to the character, I think she needs to have more darkness. I want her to have a big dramatic speech like Smith and Capaldi had.

I highly disagree. I like that 13 is a pacifist and slow to anger. I don't need/want her to be darker or have darker moments than what we've seen already.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree. We've had plenty of darkness from the modern Doctors. Let's let one have some fun, maybe spare us the regeneration drama for once.

The way she plays it, cool.

Just give us some better writing around it, please.

Never been less enthused about a new series and I like her.

I'm happy for her to be a pascafist and to avoid portraying her as angry, but the issue is her current characterising doesn't seem to actually care about a lot of injustice in the universe. She has only a few choice words for the Trump stand in, or the race host who had gotten five hundred contestents killed just prior or even amazon.com.

For me, she's seemingly over shot pascafist straight into callus. I'd be happy if that was a story arc: IE, this is what the doctor looks like when she's retired, but as of yet it's gone without comment.

It's no coincidence that her best stories for me are ones where she has no clear antagonist (It Takes You Away and Demons of the Punjab) or the Witchfinders where she does actually show that she cares.

The pacifism works in stories that allow it to work, where there is a clear evil that needs to be battled the pacifism becomes standing idly by, while in stories without a clear evil she works great.

I think the writers are having a lot of trouble finding a particular rhythm that's consistent with the show. I'm really hoping they listen to the feedback that everybody's giving. I heard a rumor that there might be a big plot with Yaz coming up in Series 12, but like I said, it's just a rumor. We'll have to wait and see.

As long as they don't cheap out and kill Yaz off. She's been underutilized, sure, but I like her a lot and she spends most of her screentime hanging out with the Doctor. She's enthusiastic about seeing the stars, and even if she doesn't have an arc like Ryan and Graham's Grace arc, I like having her around.

All these lists saying it's a mistake to have all these TARDIS companions, how it would help to trim the fat by killing one of them off - I don't like that. Keep them on, and pair them off into a more cohesive A-plot team and B-plot team. Killing a crew member off is broke, experimenting with the formula to give each crew member a chance to shine and bounce off each other is woke.
