This is the thread for discussion of The Order of the Stick plot, characters, etc. We have a separate thread for discussing game rules and mechanics. Excessive rules discussions here may be thumped as off-topic.

Do you know what's better than a single-target Dominate effect with a locked caster level of 12?
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.And you know what's even better than that?
The ability to go outside during the day without a homebrew spell.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."Can't a vampire just create thralls out of spellcasters?
That's reliant on them being able beat said spellcasters. And trying to maintain multiple thralls introduces a serious risk of them turning on you.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."Casters also generally have good will saves.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenWell, iirc there's no real mechanic for thralls breaking loose of their master apart from the vampire creating too many. I guess if the thralls leveled faster than the vampire they would also break free. I seem to remember that fluff indicated that a vampire lord template is acquired by a thrall breaking free of their master and then killing them.
Actually wait that's spawn, not thralls.

Quoth Handsome Rob:
Especially since they had multiple aces in their favour (an extra member Durkula was unaware of, the element of surprise...since while he knew they were coming, he didn't know they had scryed him and seen his preparations, etc).
I do remember wondering how things would go since Unspoken Plan Guarantee seemed to be in effect for both sides, but Durkula still had an ace...dramatic convenience.

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Now there is a cliffhanger. I hope it won't take 3 weeks for the next update. My guess is that it won't. The last delay was there probably because Rich wanted to create these with less delay, not leaving us in a cliffhanger.
The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.I wonder if one of the dwarves that was resurrected is actually Durkon's real father.
Eeeehh, that seems like it would simply undercut a lot of the developments here.
Durkon's reveal will so enrage Durkula that he will forget to finish off the heroes
"We learn from history that we do not learn from history."She specifically says she didn't know any of them, and she'd have no reason to lie. Even if she had been sleeping with any of them saying "I know him" doesn't imply that at all.
It's kind of funny, people were rightfully annoyed by Greg's "the real you is the worst you" and how no one is really good, and yet a fair number of people seem to want to turn this into more than it is clearly intended to be: an altruistic act made with no thought the benefit it could have in store for Sigdi.

Hey, maybe that's why Durkon is showing Greg the memory. To make him have a breakdown when his philosophy is proven wrong.
Probably not, but I can hope.
Writer, or something. And... a button? 🖲️Greg's outlook does seem to hinge on, deep down, everyone is rotten. That's why people don't deserve better than to become vampires, slaves to Hel, and have their world destroyed.
Huh. You are who you are on your worst day. Sigdi, on what is undisputably the worst time of her life, chose to ignore her chance at a leisurely life and revived five people she never met. That ought to confuse Durkula a bit.
This should certainly be a lot for Greg to consider, but I'm not sure if it gives him reason not to go through with the plan.
Like, at most I could see him considering that some people might deserve better than torment in Hel's domain, but that could be arranged after the end of the world, as the entire cosmos will be reorganised.
I'm pretty sure it's just the Prime Material Plane that's on the chopping block.
Aye, but Hel doesn't HAVE to torture her population. Greg could be all "hay, this one armed woman is actually pretty okay, maybe give her a villa somewhere or something?"
I wonder what would happen if Durkon could prove that Durkula isn't based on what Durkon did on his very worst day? Because Durkon had an even worse day than Durkula is aware of.
"We learn from history that we do not learn from history."Greg would have an identity crisis, perhaps consider that nature of his soul, write some lyrics, but surely would carry on with his job right?
I don't count on his Face–Heel Turn. Greg was created to serve Hel, so him suddenly thinking "maybe I was wrong the entire time" would be way off, and Rich can do better than that. Or, at least it should be really well justified, and a single memory is not enough IMO. I think that there is a greater revelation yet to come. I count on Greg making a mistake out of Evil Cannot Comprehend Good. How, I really have no idea.

The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.So, someone made a post on the Giants forum that I found interesting, even if not for me, and I figured I'd share it, so here.
I wonder where the cleric who Raised Durkon's surrogate aunts and uncles is in the present. To cast five Raise Deads in a row, she'd have to be at least 19th level, or 15th level with at least 20 Wisdom. That'd make her a pretty powerful cleric by the time of the comic, and she looks young enough in the flashback to still be kicking.

It’s not clear if she did all the castings herself, also she may well be the high priest of Thor now, who is at the Godsmoot.
"And the Bunny nails it!" ~ Gabrael "If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we." ~ Cyran
Not necessarily. My thinking was that this counted as a "donation" rather than a "payment" because she was paying to raise five complete strangers for literally no reason but to save them from Hel.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.
