• Fandom Rivalry:
  • Between fans of the series and ABS-CBN's Series/Ang Probinsyano 2015 due to having the same air time as part of a larger network war between ABS-CBN and GMA.
  • Fans of You Tube vlogger Nico David against Victor Magtanggol. David became popular due to his critical commentary on Victor Magtanggol where he often gives example of scenes where the show exhibited Special Effects Failure which became a source of humor and Memetic Mutation for his fans. Detractors of David either dismiss him as a merely basher or being biased, suspecting him to be a Kapamilya or ABS-CBN fan, although he has said he is more of a Kapuso or GMA fan himself that's why he focuses on GMA's series whenever he talks about Philippine media. He also critiqued Ang Probinsyano as well.
• They Copied It, So It Sucks!: This was the initial reaction of some people when Victor Magtanggol was first announced and released its trailer suspecting that GMA is plagiarizing Marvel Cinematic Universe's Thor. In response GMA says the series was adopted from Norse mythology which they pointed out is in the Public Domain. Still some followers are skeptical and thinks GMA is riding on the popularity of MCU's Thor at best even if Victor Magtanggol had elements absent in MCU, such as Loki being a straight-on villain, the existence of certain Norse deities and Victor not being Thor himself.
• Title Confusion: Victor Magtanggol is not the protagonist's superhero alias it's his actual name. Hammerman is. This does not help that this actual name is a Meaningful Name; Victor which means "victory" and "Magtanggol" means "to defend".
