A lot of switching back and forth ensued, due to some players wanting to keep using the Lapras they had grown attached to while others preferred the new one for being a Shiny with a superior ability. Ultimately, the latter became part of the final team, while the former was left in the PC for good.
Deoxys Wars Explanation A similar situation ensued with a Deoxys that evolved from a wild Kirlia early on versus another Deoxys that was encountered as a roaming Legendary. Proponents of the former wanted to stick with the one that had already spent a notable amount of time on the team, while those who preferred the latter predominantly liked it for being the randomized counterpart of Memetic Loser Entei. Unlike with Lapras, both of them eventually ended on the final team, and players took advantage of this by switching them to two radically different forms during the postgame (specifically, Defense Form for the former and Attack Form for the latter).
Unexpected Character: Most guesses regarding who the Mt. Silver opponent would be were of characters from runs that took place either in Johto or Kanto (which had always been the case up to that point), with common guesses including AAEFFFF from Storm Silver, NEEKO from the Silver sidegame, or even a back-to-back battle against ᴾᴋᴾᴋᴾᴋᴾᴋᴾᴋ and BBBBBa from Charity Dual Red & Blue. Therefore, it came as a surprise to instead find a character from a Sinnoh run awaiting there, specifically the Host from Inverse Platinum, with one dev commenting that only one person correctly guessed he would be the final opponent.
