• Anti-Climax Boss: Abaddon goes down pretty easy, considering that he's supposed to be a Physical God.
• Faux Symbolism: Abaddon is unleashed by Owen, Gwen, Ianto and Tosh opening the rift, going against Jack’s explicit orders not to. Jack ends up performing a Heroic Sacrifice to stop Abaddon, even dying in a Crucified Hero Shot. He remains dead for several days, then rises and immediately forgives those who betrayed him.
• Special Effect Failure: Abaddon looks like he belongs in a video game, not helped by being shown in broad daylight.^note Not only are things scarier in the dark, but it's also commonly used to hide the imperfections of CGI and would have helped here.
