YMMV / The Stalker

• Ensemble Dark Horse:
  • Jen Yates is very popular despite dying in the first film. A lot of viewers wish she’d lived longer or come back from the dead.
  • Her cousin Lori is popular too, to the point where she’s become the main protagonist alongside Katie.
• Ho Yay: Tom and David, given that they used to stalk Katie together and that David tries to kill Katie partly because he wants revenge for Tom.
• Iron Woobie: Katie Barcley. She’s still standing despite being nearly murdered multiple times, having most of her friends and family die or betray her and generally having a life that is a nonstop Trauma Conga Line. Besides doing a stint in a mental hospital following The Stalker 3, she’s coping with it all surprisingly well even after being framed for murder and locked up.
• Shocking Moments: The finale of the third film. To break it down the killer is revealed to be Officer Harris, the cop. Katie is forced to answer questions about the original murders to save her friends and family who are tied up in chairs. She only gets two right, meaning all but two of her loved ones will die and she is forced to choose. The killer turns out to have an accomplice, who is revealed to be...Richard! (who was believed to have been killed ten years ago). Holly and Emma are released whilst everyone else is stabbed to death. Suddenly, Emma stabs Holly, killing her, and it's revealed she is part of the plot too! Richard stabs Katie...then Brendan bursts out the bathroom and tackles Harris. Richard shoots him, then Lori turns out to be Faking the Dead and clobbers Richard with a golf club. Emma tries to run for it, but Katie catches her and drops a TV on her head. Harris comes at her, but Lori shoots him. Richard then shoots Katie, only to be promptly shot in the head by Lori...all in the space of a few seconds!
• The Woobie: Where to begin?
  • There’s Katie herself, of course (see Iron Woobie).
  • Lori, to the point where she almost rivals Katie for the amount of crappy things that have happened to her. Raised by her aunt due to her mother being a drug addict, having both her cousins be murdered, being attacked, injured and nearly killed by a bunch of psychos (more than once), having to kill one of the psychos in self-defence, losing nearly all her friends and her boyfriend, nearly being killed by her aunt and finding out she’s pregnant after surviving yet another murder spree which claimed the life of her baby’s father. She’s a complete wreck by the 5th film, having dropped out of college, become a stripper and living with her sister, whom she constantly fights with. And then she gets kidnapped!
  • Holly. She grows up knowing her father was a psychopathic murderer who tried to kill her sister, thus making her feel very guilty and that everyone blames her. Her mother is a neglectful drunk due to depression. She then gets caught up in a murder spree ending with most of her friends and her mother dead, and she herself being severely injured and forced to go into hiding.
  • Aunt Debbie. Both her children are murdered and her niece, who she raised and loves like a daughter, is nearly killed. She then snaps and becomes a murderer too, before being unceremoniously shot in the head by her accomplices.
  • Tracey. After the murder sprees which originally, her own husband was behind, she sinks into depression and becomes an alcoholic. When trapped by the killers, she pleads with Katie to let her die to save her daughters, apologising for not being the mother they deserve and begging her daughter to “put an end to [her] suffering”. And on top of all that, it’s revealed she became pregnant with Katie after being drugged and raped.
