YMMV / The Killing of Sister George

Go To

  • Adaptation Displacement: The stage play is somewhat forgotten about, there's been a few London revivals though.
  • Fair for Its Day: Despite the negative reception and the unfavourable scenes, it does display positive portrait of gay people and no one dies which is unheard of even today.
  • Unintentionally Sympathetic: We are meant to dislike June but she is funny and tragic that we can't hate her.
  • Vindicated by History: Despite the negative reception the movie had it's seen as a groundbreaking work of gay cinema much like others of the era including The Boys in the Band.
