    YMMV regarding Evermore in General
  • Franchise Original Sin: Meta-Plots. When initally trialed in Realms, they wre seen as an interesting new element to the Evermore series as a whole, encouraging the development of a wider story for players to explore. However, the Meta-Plot in Realms also had a case of Broken Base, and was plagued with issues. Namely it was difficult for players to get involved in said Meta-Plot, nevermind mechanical issues behind the scenes. Revelation doubled down on the Meta-Plots by trying to intergrate them more closely into the RP's mechanics and worlds, whilst also trying to bring the base together. However, the approach taken by focusing purely on the starting Realm, coupled with the slow pace and an overall desire to explore the Realms played a major role in Revelations failure. As a result from this, it was ultimately decided and confirmed that the Meta-Plots would be scrapped in Resurrection, focusing on a return to a similar format to Recursions.
  • Ironic Echo: A strange Meta example, but both the head GMs who started off Recursions and Realms ultimately went on to do the same thing. The Recursions Head GM left to focus on his own fiction. The Realms Head GM had a few more reasons why to pull the plug... but one of these reasons was to also focus on his own fiction too.

    YMMV regarding Recursions

    YMMV regarding Realms
  • Broken Base: The playerbase has been split due to Realms addition of Realms-wide main plots. Some like the idea of a main story whilst others have perferred the more sandbox nature of Recursions.
    • The Vortex Plot in itself is such a case, some find the Vortex an interesting threat to deal with and offers interesting plot opportunities for characters. Others have found the Vortex too powerful or intrusive in the individual Realms. A third group generally likes the idea of the Vortex plot, but believes it needs some tweaking. The reveal of how the Vortex War will play out in attempting to bridge both the main story and sandbox camps seems to have settled this.
  • Even Better Sequel: Whilst it is debatable if Realms is better than Recursions, the fact that Realms possesses nearly three times as many characters as in Recursions, has more pages worth of content and has been able to beat Recursions in half the time that the previous RP was active speaks for itself.
  • What Could Have Been: The five part ending of the Realms was arguably a big vision of this, showcasing some of the plans that were made for the Vortex War Arc. This includes things specialised 'Void Weapons' and massive battles with Treeships, climaxing in a pair of Boss battle with the Vortex and even a Darkwater entity. Ultimately, according to Word of God, a combination of a lack of activity, the impracticallity of running such events in an RP format, the extreme long term efforts required to see it all through meant that it could never properly happen. That, and there was the possiblity of Multiple Endings and this was all after the fact that the Vortex War was planned to be Act 1? Indeed, ''three' were originally planned but the same problems kicked in as stated above.

    YMMV regarding Resurrection
  • Win Back the Crowd: After two roleplays with an emphersis on Meta-Plots, Resurrection will effectively scrap them, and focus purely on the exploration and interaction of the Realms themselves.
